That's a point that totally eludes some 'TRUE' conservatives around here.

That even a Voinovich votes with the conservatives 80% of the time, and is far better than a Dem who never does.

When people say they'd just as soon have Glenn and Metzenbaum as Voinovich and DeWine, I want to spit nails.

How stupid can some people be to want all or nothing?? It makes no sense.

I was referring to some people mentioning that the Bolton vote was also part of the unwritten agreement between the 7 RINO traitors and the 7 Dems who conned them into it. Those idiot Republicans either believed the Dems or knowingly supported them.

As for this vote, I agree, that the Dems were exposed for what they are, and that was apparently the only avenue.

But NOW Frist should have continued with what was planned, when he didn't win the cloture vote on the judicial nominees, and eliminated the filibuster on ANY nominees.

The DemonRats have been sucked into a real trap. McInsane, in his eqo driven desire to make progress with the DemonRats, has lead the DemonRats into a trap. They are seen as sitting down with the "moderate" Republicans to work out their differences rather that resorting to more filibusters. When they are seen as resorting to their old tactics with more filibusters, they have over-played their hand. They are seen as saying one thing and doing the opposite the next day. It shows that they can't even get along with the the "moderate" Republicans. They cannot be trusted. The DemonRats have spent all of their political capital in one day and have revealed that they are the trouble makers. Now, it is for Frist to cut down the DemonRats in one bold move to show that the Senate has no place for troublemakers and now must deliver the consequence for their misconduct. Frist as the Senate leader, must be the disciplinarian.

Our best choice would be to push for the election of a stronger President...one who could control the Democrats and give us justice....You could call for a vote of no confidence on President Bush.....

Yes. And that does matter.
I live in one of the most Liberal counties in a very Liberal state (MD). We have a GOP governor for the first time in about 40 years, and possibly could have a GOP candidate for Senator. I would not nit-pick his opinions on any issue - I would just be grateful that we were making progress.

I'd rather be in the minority and be fighting like hell, than be in the majority and be bending over and grabbing my ankles everyday like we have.

Push the damn button !

You are detailing the obvious.

My point is the RATs won and they are in the minority.

Frist, Bush and the Republican leaders have yet to figure out that the only way to have things go our way is to stay together on the crucial votes. If the turncoats abandon the party on such an important vote, then they should not be in the party (ostracized) or at least kicked off key Chairman positions or key committe positions.

Sounds dictatorial, true, but it is the way the RATs play the game, and the RATs are controlling the votes because this is the way the wage war. We either wage war the same way or we abdicate power (which the filibuster vote proves we already have).

Anyone saying they want Glenn and Metzenbaum are nuts. I used to have those two as my Senator when I lived in Ohio -- detested them both.

I will take someone I agree with 80% of the time versus someone I never agreed with like Metzenbaum. Then we had that idiot Dem Governor -- cannot remember his name. It was horrible.

You're talking about "pork". Both sides do it, and they will continue until voters stop rewarding them for it. That has nothing to do with ideology - it's only got to do with greed. And too many of us have that.
The current SS debate is a good example - the issue is over who thinks they can get the most money from other people. Bush is losing because many people think they won't get others to pay for their retirement.
If people thought about what made sense more than what they could get from others, it wouldn't be an issue. But this is what happens when people think they won't get as much money from the public dole as they could.

45 good Republicans are good to have when you win five additional good Republican seats.

You don't have "45 good Republicans". You have 7 -10 flaming liberals and the rest of them are moderates at best, maybe a few isolated conservatives.

The RATs are waging war, and the Republicans act like it is "just politics". This is no different than the 15 million illegal aliens that have invaded our nation with thousands more invading our borders every day and Bush says it "is just for jobs".

Dream on. You can sit around and wait and grow old, but I want to see some fight in the Republicans--NOW. I have had enough of this surrendering to the RATs.

What an assinine statement -- if we were in the minority Owen would not have been confirmed or a lot of other nominees and we wouldn't have a tax cut to name a few. Statements like yours never cease to amaze me and show a total lack of political savvy or the fact you are not a Republican -- toss a dart.

Rather be in the minority -- give me a break -- we spent too many years of my life in the minority and I enjoy being in the majority and have no intention of going back. That is why I work campaigns and am Vice Chair of my County -- want to keep Republicans in charge.

I can remember Republicans filibustering when we were the minority -- this is nothing new except they don't do the old fashioned bring in the cots type filibusters. Strom Thurmond was a master of the filibuster.

Gloves are off around here for anyone making a comment we should be in the minority again or they would vote for Hillary now or any other ludicrous statements -- not going to let those kind of comments pass anymore without comments.

I am a lifelong Republican Conservative and proud of it and I am proud of the work that my two Senators from OK and others like them are doing in the Senate. Since Hillary came to the Senate, it has become very nasty or I should say since the Clintons came to D.C. the decorum in the Senate and elsewhere has gone down the tubes. Gone are the days when the two sides used to fight like hell on the floor of the Senate and go out to dinner that night. Two people are the most responsible for the nastiness we have in D.C. right now -- Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Don't believe me then you should have been in Oklahoma when the Clintons ran the RAT Carson's campaign -- nastiest campaign I have every witnessed but we sent Carson packing along with the Clintonites running his nasty campaign.

How stupid can some people be to want all or nothing?? It makes no sense.

That's the thing that mystifies me, too. I'd rather start with 80% of what I want and try for the next 20% than go to 0% - and do what??

Exactly! Wish more people on here felt that way. We have too many doom and gloomers and nitpickers of the mindset -- my way or no way.

When you look at ACU ratings, you will usually see that our lowest Republican is higher then any of the RATs except in rare cases like Ralph Hall in the House from TX who now is a Republican.

Do ACU ratings give any special weighting to 'crunch' votes? It seems to me that there are a number of RINOs who will consistently vote with their claimed party when their vote won't make any difference (e.g. on a bill that passes 87-10) but tend to betray their party when doing so will actually cause damage.
