I would be a libertarian if it was not for their lack of patriotism and being for strong isolationism.
Details, details.....

...and their lax immigration platform. I feel the same way.
I've really lost interest in what the Libertarians have to say following September 11th. They blew it, and in a big way. They no longer receive donations from me and will not unless they dump the isolationist refuse from their leadership.
Liberatarians are a fringe of the right.
What do you mean, "strong isolationalism"?
No, not really. Their agenda fits nicely on the left (open borders, drugs for everyone, George Soros' agenda.)
Who listens to WGIR between 3-6 PM? We're all listening to Howie Carr on WRKO.
The Libertarians are more conservative on economics and freedom of the individual than the Republicans.Just look at the ludicrous scenarios of the Senate of late!
However, they are totally off base on defense of the country and other isolationist perspectives.
By the way NOBODY is taking a reality stand on illegal immigration! If the minutemen ran for Senate, they would have my vote!
I agree their stands on illegal immigration & defense are ridiculous. However, if you look at other countries that are NOT fighting an absurd, counter productive and futile "war on drugs" they are doing pretty darned good. Amsterdam is not the debacle everyone predicts will happen if we legalize drugs. Actually, if you take out the Muslims, its a lot safer than LA, etc.
No, not really. Personal responsibility is a big part of libertarianism. Something that is sorely lacking in both the democratic and republican parties. The l's aren't interested in micromanaging your life as long as you aren't depriving anyone of life, liberty or property through force or fraud.
Personal responsibility to keep those borders wide open and keep the dope flowing? Right!
The premise behind open borders is that free people should be allowed to travel unencumbered. If it were not for our vast welfare state put into place by republicans and democrats, immigrants would have no reason to be here unless they wanted to legally work. We already have open borders. At least under a liberarian government, the people coming here wouldn't be freeloading at the expense of taxpayers.
There was a time not all that long ago (early 90's) when I thought perhaps the Libertarians had potential, but after doing some serious research I discovered what they really are as they pretend to wish to return the country to what it was founded on. The Libertarians IMO are nothing but an amoral bunch of lefties who don't want to admit to being Democrats.
As for the drugs, let me ask you a question. If drugs were legalized tomorrow, would you suddenly become a crack addict?
No, I would not become a crack-head - it's not my drug of choice, but I'm sure I would be lining up at the vending machine for some dope to smoke and maybe something to shoot once in awhile. I have not touched a thing in 20 yrs. but if they legalize it, you're going to be amazed at how many people who used to have "drug problems" indulge again. I got very very straight because I could not afford to be arrested and lose my license to make a living, not because I didn't like it.
