Times Co. to cut 190 jobs amid sluggish sales of ads

Citing an uncertain economic climate and sluggish advertising revenue, The New York Times Co. said yesterday that it will eliminate about 190 positions at its flagship New York Times newspaper and at its New England Media Group, which includes The Boston Globe and the Telegram & Gazette in Worcester. ADVERTISEMENT The company said the reductions represent less than 2 percent of the company's 12,300 workers.

less than 2 percent 2% here, 2% there and pretty quick The New York Time is history. Good riddance. The LA TImes is in trouble too! Maybe these papers should consider hiring a bunch of conservatives.

it doesn't matter - people here link to NYT's website so often that they hire more for their web edition than layoff on the print side.

Shrinking ad income at these MPM's (main print media) will help towards a wake-up call.
I'm looking for free distributions of a daily print with all those ads that my local print media provides along with their liberally spun and tilted news.
Some very short picture type of information would do just fine.
As 38% of newspapers reach homes solely based on advertising ranging from food stores to department stores, automobiles, those 38% as a starting point will become decisive in providing unbiased and free information to the public.

In line with this info, is the following tidbit:
I've not subscribed to the Globe for at least 20 years. The past two Sundays, the Globe has placed "complimentary" copies on my property. They are hurtin, and are phishing for new subscribers.
