Richmond, Virginia RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman formally endorsed Jerry Kilgore for Governor of Virginia at a luncheon in Richmond this afternoon.
Jerry Kilgore previously served as Virginias Attorney General after being elected in November 2001 with over 60% of the vote. Prior to his term as Attorney General, Kilgore served as Secretary of Public Safety for then-Governor, George Allen.
Jerry Kilgore is a proven leader with a clear and consistent record of serving the people of Virginia well, Chairman Mehlman said. There is no doubt in my mind that Jerry will be an incredible Governor and will serve this state with the highest level of integrity and honesty.
Mehlman concluded, Virginia is a state that supports common-sense leadership and core Republican values. We look forward to working with Jerry to ensure The Old Dominion comes back home to the GOP.
Chairman Mehlmans endorsement of Jerry Kilgore follows the endorsements of: U.S. Senator John Warner, U.S. Senator George Allen, U.S. Rep. Frank R. Wolf, U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte, U.S. Rep. Thomas M. Davis III, U.S. Rep. Virgil H. Goode, U.S. Rep. Eric I. Cantor, U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Davis, U.S. Rep. Randy Forbes, U.S. Rep. Thelma D. Drake, the Republican Governors Association (RGA), and the Republican Party of Virginia (RPV).
OK - will do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We really shouldn't pick on the infirm, you know......
ROFL
Uhm - yeah - what you said :)
Maybe you can help me out.
1. Has Kilgore pledged that he will not allow taxes to be raised?
2. Is Kilgore pro-life or pro-abortion?
3. Does Kilgore vigorously oppose the homosexual assault on traditional marriage?
4. Where would you rank Kilgore on a scale of: 1 (conservative) to 10 (liberal)?
Thanks!
I'm going to vote for George Fitch.
Kilgore refuses to debate Fitch. Our local radio station in Norfolk has extended an invitation to Kilgore to debate Fitch, Kilgore refuses to. That should say everything you need to know about Kilgore.
1. He fought Warner and Kaine on last year's outrageous tax increase.
2. pro-life
3. yes
4. 1
Good to hear.
I was reading through the blogs on Fitch's site, some very interesting items there.
But I've got to agree with one who basically asks "George Who?" He's practically unknown here on the Eastern shore. Except for the diehard political junkies like me, most folks don't know much about him, if they've even hear of him at all.
He and Potts are running practically neck and neck in lack of name recognition.
George Fitch spoke at my last local republican meeting. He seems like a great guy and has been a good mayor of Warrenton. We gave him lots of applause for his accomplishments.
I'm guessing he's using this time to elevate his name recognition for something in the future without ticking off too many party regulars.
He fought strongly against Mark Warner's tax increase (the biggest in Virginia history). He has pledged to take any new tax initiative to the voters and has said (and I paraphrase) that the government should not tell people how much it wants, the people should tell the goverment how much it can have.
2. Is Kilgore pro-life or pro-abortion?
Pro-life. Very.
3. Does Kilgore vigorously oppose the homosexual assault on traditional marriage?
Yes. 4. Where would you rank Kilgore on a scale of: 1 (conservative) to 10 (liberal)?
Got an option better than "1" ?
Oh get over it. Debating Fitch is a waste of time.
I'm sure Fitch is a good guy and a decent mayor, but he wouldn't have a prayer against Kaine. If he's really about the issues, he'd take on his RINO Senators - Cha-Chingchester and Potts.
This nomination has been Kilgore's for the last four years. In fact, if you'll do a search for the day after the 2001 election, you'll find me saying just that.
Mayor Fitch did not so much as even send a representative to the 25th anniversary celebration of our women's republican committee.
See, I'm paying attention!!!!!
You done good.
Kilgore sounds good to me.
Thanks for that info.
Did you recently join FR to give us this brilliant insight?? Or, are things at the DU bordering on suicide at the possibility of losing yet ANOTHER election??
Have a nice day, and always remember:
PETA means (P)eople (E)ating (T)asty (A)nimals :-) yummmmmmm
Now, now....be kind to ol' John. The poor boob hasn't been the same since Liz Taylor dumped him!! :-)
It's time to say goodnight, John.......
IMHO, why would Jerry Kilgore waste time and money to debate someone we've never heard of, and someone who doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning???
Let's be real, shall we???
Sure, I'll vote for who I choose, not who I'm told to vote for. Fair enough?
