Harrison Ford was perfect in the role. But all Clancy's movies were far worse than books. I can make one exception for the Patriot Games movie. In others even main plot turns were twisted sideways or opposite direction. I am very critical of Clancy releasing so much of control despite being billed as a producer.
On OSS business: they had another advantage of drawing from a similar cultural heritage for in-europe spying. It is more difficult now. Still there should be enough people in the Muslim world/heritage who hates jihadists enough to do something about it. That if we don't want to subcontract Mossad.

If this is happening (and it may very well be) I don't want to know about it.
We have to remember that most of this war is happening waaay below the radarscreen.
