NEW DEPUTY LEADER FOR AL QAEDA
Al Qaeda says it has appointed a new deputy leader after Abu Musab al Zarqawi was wounded, according to reorts.
Al Zarqawi has been behind the violence aimed at Coalition forces following the invasion of Iraq.
He is also thought to be personally responsible for beheading a number of hostages, including Briton Kenneth Bigley.
More follows...

Nothing like a Al Qaeda field hospital to help relieve the pain. Maybe they can amputate his head.

The new guy can at least rest a little easier tonight.
It seems that it is always numbers 2 and 3 that get taken out more often.

Iraq's al Qaeda said on Thursday it had appointed a deputy to lead the group until Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who it said was wounded, could resume command, according to a statement posted on the Internet.
"The leaders met after the wounding of our Sheikh Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, may God heal him, and decided to appoint a deputy to assume the leadership until the return of our Sheikh safely," the group said in a statement posted on an Islamist Web site.
The statement could not be immediately verified

How can Roto-Reuters not verify it? Isn't Al Qaeda Iraq HQ down the hall?

I'm of the opinion that al-Zarqawi would allow the public appointing of a new leader over his dead body. Oops, I said dead body.

At the rate our troops are killing these Clymers off, it seems they'll have to appoint one their few remaining tea boys with the most seniority.

Thanks for the ping.
This all could still be an elaborate ruse to slip Z out of harm's way, but it is looking more and more like the slow lead in to his obit.
