Cheers,
CSG
And when it turns out that the first Supreme Court nominee happens (by some amazing coincidence) to be one of the very same people these Democrats voted for at the appellate level, any attempt on their part to characterize this nominee as "extreme" and/or "extraordinary" is going to fall flat on its face.
I can just hear those seven GOP "moderates" lining up to toss this stupid agreement out the window . . .
"With all due respect, Senator Schumer, Priscilla Owens can't possibly be characterized as an 'extreme' candidate -- heck, EVEN SENATOR BYRD VOTED TO CONFIRM HER TO THE APPELLATE COURT IN JUNE 2005!"
Now, the Democrats should declare the following:
The Social Security debate has ended, as the public has rejected partial privatization and is not demanding any hasty changes to the system.
In turn, Democrats will no longer participate in congressional hearings on Social Security, and will not debate Social Security with Republicans in the media, at least until Republicans stop trying to phase out SS by privatizing it.
Instead, Democrats will begin addressing the real crisis of Medicare and skyrocketing health care costs, by putting on the table a few comprehensive reform plans, leading their own hearings to foster public debate and discussion about them, and culminating with a single plan for the party to run on in the 2006 congressional elections.
Why would this strategy work? Because it flows from what Democrats have been saying all along.
Let it be clear to everyone on this thread: I did not say Bush WAS the worst President in history... I said that If he gives up Presidential prerogatives he will be accounted the worst President in history...
Agreement from MurryMom.
LOL.

ROFLMAO!!
Fool
Well, you can't argue this one. Textbook Gerrymandering.
I did NOT vote FOR "W" in the last election ... I actually voted for the candidate that had the best chance to beat john F'n kerry ... which happened to be "W". Bushes border policy IMHO sucks eggs in a major way ... That being said as far as being the worst president ... he has a long way to beat ol' Jimmah
I Agree. Strange so many are compelled to personally attack the guy that wrote this, instead of addressing what he said.
If my memory serves me right, at one time you used to post on your very insightful comments, "The Democrat Party is a Criminal Conspiracy". It was my favorite response. While I agree with much of what you write here I do remember what Thomas Sowell said when asked why he would support George H.Bush over Clinton. He said, "The choice is between a second class fireman and a first class arsonist".
Yes, that and the immaturization of Free Republic.
You are TOO funny.
You say on the day Priscilla Owen wins confirmation.
Your "analysis" is silly and sophomoric.
He should use Fed money and jobs to spank these seven. Frist could have nipped this if he had moved more quickly. Bush spends more because we are now in a real war. So far he has not given up anything. McCain is cozy with cable companies and the Bells...slap some expensive regs on them or open their sandboxes to competition by EO and let them know that is the result of their support for J McPain.
ROFL!
Have you read his posting history? FR is not the "OMGILUVBUSHSOMUCHHEISAGOD" website. At least it wasn't when Bob signed on.
