Reportedly, two top aides of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Al Qaeda's Iraqi front man, who is the number one person on the most wanted list in Iraq, have been arrested.

A US army announcement confirmed that Mullah Kamel al-Assawadi, who is described as "one of the most wanted people in northern Iraq", was captured while trying to bribe his way past an Iraqi checkpoint in Balad town 70 km outside of Bagdat (Baghdad).

Described as one of Zarqawi's top lieutenants, Assawadi was carrying various identity papers as well as an amount of money. No information has yet been released about when he was detained.

That's what happens when everybody that isn't blowing themselves up is a chief.

I think the real story here is that he tried his way through an Iraqi checkpoint and was STILL arrested. That's the most positive thing for me in the entire story.

Hopefully these mutts were taken down a couple of days ago so there was time to squeeze some good intel out of them.

More middle managers and VPs than a modern corporation.

Have they released a new "deck of 52"? That helped to identify how well we were doing at apprehending the bad guys.

The FBI doesn't let the "America's most wanted" list clear out to nil, they repopulate it as some are apprehended.

I lost track of the "deck of 52" when it got down to the remaining dozen.

All lieutenants, but no captains, majors or colonels.

'Kamel al-Assawadi'

I think I'll just go with a phonetic translation of that one.

Fantastic news. It's good to feel pretty assured that many of the faces under the hoods in those beheading videos are now captured or dead.

I hope we can get some conformation now on if Zarqawi was seriously injured in fighting with American and I.N.G. troops. I do so hope and pray that the story is true. Rarely has someone so evil roamed this World, and it will be a good day when we wound him all the way to a cold metal table at the Baghdad morgue.
