I am currently looking after my dad who has various health issues paticularly since mum had to go into care last November with Dementia. We had a rescue greyhound but unfortunately she had to be put down on January I miss her loads and at present it is just not practical for us to have another dog.
We do have racing pigeons though so still have some contact with living creatures.
My lovely late Gizzy
Have to point out, though, this includes some of my kitties!!
Numerous times I have been sleeping, and one of the latter has awakened me to let me know my blood glucose was dropping, and I needed to GET UP! and treat the insulin reaction!!
One stretched out full length on my chest at 0430 to alert me - stared at me until I 'got the message' - and quite literally saved my life.
Had it continued much lower, I would have Exited Stage Left.
My present Binky Boy watches me like a hawk at night, and MANY times has felt the vibes and acted to wake me.
He was 2 when my niece had to find a home, becoming highly allergic to him - and thought, "Oh, Aunt Margaret will take him!"
"But I have another cat and -- " -- of course took him..:))
snugs, your Lizzy looks like the recued one my son, Steve, and his wife Sandy obtained from Greyhound Rescue -- name is Jenny -- after the first one they had for several years - Waldo - died.
It cannot be an accident that so many strays/unwanted/need a new home critters gravitate to some of us..:))
God's Critter Caretakers, is what we are --
I had meant to respond to you sooner.. I appreciate your sharing about your Sam ... I know how hard it is to say goodbye. The little furry "kids" just can't tell us what is wrong but seem to intuitively know what we need. Doesn't seem fair to them.
And you now have a tripod!!! God seems to give us what we need.. goodnight now. I am really going to try to unwind. Shows how busy I have been, only been to Amy's once & not even to Dose!
Sweet dreams Lakeside.
