Yeah, I understand that, but half of the PA Freepers are demanding Santorum's defeat.

Conservatives (unlike Democrats), demand absolute control of their representatives.

Not that that's bad. Usually, it's good. It only becomes bad when you end up defeating a conservative, and replacing him with a liberal.

Then it is up to the other half to reason with them and persude them of the errors in their logic. Of course in a time honored fashion a few friendly pints of spirits during the discussion would probably help.

I can't understand the readiness to whack one of the staunchest conservative senators either! It might be leftover from when Santorum campaigned for Spector recently, but if GWBush expected him to, what was he to do? I don't have any other explanation for it, and I don't like it either.

I think democrats leave it to the special interest groups (like NARAL and NEA) to control their elected officials. And their trust is well placed.
