The US Military only had problems in Mogudishu because they were crippled by the Klinton administration. To save his image among the raving islamists Klinton would not allow the military to use overwhelming force to accomplish their mission of capturing Mohammed Aidid.
On the fateful Blackhawk Down mission they denied requests for Apache & Spectre heavy gunships and Bradley and Abrams tanks. As a result Delta and the Rangers were outgunned and overwhelmed.
Unfortunately, Klintoon's decision to tuck tail and run came back to haunt us on 9/11. Osama used the Somalia debacle as 'proof' that American soldiers couldn't fight and that Americans lacked the willpower to fight a real war.
Dont forget that it was Clinton's Secretary of Defense Les Aspin who, when asked for Bradleys and Abrams, responded that "we dont want to appear provocative."
When Aspin resigned in disgrace, that is when Boy Clinton felt the need to get a Republican for his replacement, Bill Cohen.
Lots of people paid a high price due to Boy Clinton's ineptness.
We should never forget what a sorry President Clinton was.
