What can the President do to give them pain?

Recess appointments? Then when congress re-convenes, fillibuster any attempt to remove the recess appointees? Dems: Live they sword, die by the sword.

We can't fight obstructionism with more obstructionism, especially since our Republican Senators don't have the backbone for it.

The Senate needs to be forced to fulfill thier Constitutional obligation. This isn't just a matter of Republican vs Democrat. It's an issue of playing political games behind the scenes rather than taking a public stance and voting.

Make them vote.

Make them all vote.

I'd rather Bush's nominees lose the vote than the Senate to be allowed to continue neglect their duty.

Call an emergency session, and lock them in until they vote.

Who knows, Kennedy might even come to his senses if he's kept sober long enough.
