I don' think Frist had anything to do with this. The backstabbers were operating on their own.

McCain needs to go. He is a disruptive force in the party. You can't tell me that without McCain, those other weenies would have had enough nerve to do this.

Well, these RINO's will eventually die of course. Hopefully in our lifetime. Let's get busy.

Frist may not have had anything to do with this deal. McCain can't stand not to be in the limelight. I have always felt that Frist has not been a strong leader. There are things that he can do to leverage his recalcitrants into doing the right things. There are things that they want and need for the folks back home (unless they're all like Karl Lenin who doesn't give a damn about the folks back home) that Frist can obstruct, not bring to a vote, cause to die in committee, etc. He has the power. Its about damn time he uses it for US.

That's the problem, he has no control over the caucus, especially on the important issues. He allows the members to run wild. The republicans should have stood together on this, and Frist is responsible for not leading and is weakened further by this "deal". His presidential aspirations are gone for sure, and now any group of senators can go behind his back, and broker deals on any issue they please.

#17..My thoughts too.

This was about as underhanded as one can get....and that 'one' was definitely McCain.

He's always looking for opportunities to weasel his face before a camera and push/backstab the Republican 's in the process.

I don't know what this says about Frist...but I definitely think he was ambushed....

..and by that Graham cracker too!

Just recall please that Tom Daschle's defeat gave us Harry Reid.

Not even Arlen Spector signed onto this stunt

Spector proved to be more of a Republican then John McCain and his gang

"McCain needs to go. He is a disruptive force in the party. You can't tell me that without McCain, those other weenies would have had enough nerve to do this."

THE most important comment I've read since yesterday evening.

I can't get angry about Snowe, Collins or Chaffee (leopards don't change their spots) but the other four have just made a boatload of money for their primary opponents - and the RNC and RSSC has lost that dough.

McCain deserves a special place, though. It is not anywhere in the universe in which I live. Just wait until he comes a'callin' for funding.

Other than this stuff, though, I'm not as gloomy about what the results of this are likely to be. If, as some predict, blockages of the president's nominees dwindle drastically, the President wins big time. I'm willing to wait and see - and as much as we at FR are focusing on the RINOs, those DINOs involved in the deal deserve some attention, too... they are now extremely vulnerable from their base --- and from ours. In addition, comments I've seen make it real possible that this is quite a fragile deal that some of the PubbieWorms may be willing to scuttle at the first sign of abusing the "extraordinary circumstances". I'm going to wait to see just how this plays out for a few months before judging on the effects it will actually have.

Exactly but that hasn't stopped 75% of Free Republic from calling for his head. Frist can't hold a gun to their heads and make them vote a certain way. We all know that McLame will do whatever the heck he wants and all he had to do was get a few of the usual suspects to go along with him.
