Under the agreement, Democrats would pledge not to filibuster any of Bush’s future appeals court or Supreme Court nominees except in “extraordinary circumstances.”

{extraordinary circumstances.}

The RATS consider extraordinary cirmcumstances the same way as abortion doctors consider health reasons for abortions.

Translation of “extraordinary circumstances.” = if Bush makes a nomination

I cant just hear it now.

"If this isnt extraordinary I dont know what is.."

Anyone wanna bet that the dems will use that as an excuse? I bet they'll do the deed before the year is out and before 6 nominees are sent up.

Republicans did not cave. A handful of RINOS apparently did.

By Democrat definition any Bush Supreme Court nominee will be an "extraordinary circumstance."

This won't be a popular position here, but a compromise that is hated by both the folks here AND at Dem Underground may well be a reasonable one. The DU folks are not happy if ANY Bush nominees go through and many here are not happy unless the Dems are crushed completely. Assuming (yes I know what they say about assuming) the optimal position is somewhere in the middle, maybe this is for the best.
