Agreed. The objective now is the 8 judges. If all 8 pass, it is a win.

I'm done with the feckless Republicans as well. They had the options of (a) everything to win or (b) everything to lose. Of course, they chose the latter. I wonder which nominees they will throw under the bus tires? Moreover, haven't these idiots learned that, to a Democrat, "extraordinary circumstances" is defined as "anyone who isn't a Democrat?"

I believe now, more than ever, that this country has only one party. The Repubocrats, hypocrites, elitists and cowards all, are firmly in charge. From here on out it is every man for themself.

It seems like Frist wouldn't have to votes to stop a potential filibuster on a SCOTUS nominee.

I took more heat on this forum from people who thought I was being unreasonably tough on Frist. I was told that I "wasnt paying attention" and that "Frist is a doctor, he is methodical and is counting the votes before forcing a showdown." I was flamed by the elites who kept saying, "next week". Of all the times I have wanted to be right about something, this time was NOT it..

This sickening maneuver virtually ensures a Hillary Presidency. The Dems are emboldened and enough of us who used to be proud to be associated with the Republican party will just give up...if the Reps can't stand up to the Dems when they are in the majority what is the use in supporting them? Frist is toast for national office...McCain can run but only as a Dem or Independent.
Lindsay Graham - forget it!
The margin for victory is thin, but with this move it will be impossible to obtain.
President Hillary -- get used to it because it was just brought to you by RINOS !!

I want to know who were the Republican Senators who went over to the dark side, so that I can start sending contributions to their opponents in the next primary.

Let's just send them up left and right, mainly right, and let the Senate vote up and down.

Basically, this means that any filibuster of a nominee will risk immediate implementation of the "Constitutional Option." The RINOs will be less amenable to a deal the next time around, unless they agree that the nominee in question is "extreme."

I think you're right, and I think---could be wrong---but I think that the next judge after Owens will be quietly voted out of committee and through on the floor. This was a "save face" by the Dems. We can whine about the appearance, but that's all that it is, I think.

There is a philosophy of war, I think argued by no less than Sun Tzu, that says leave your enemy a "golden bridge" to retreat rather than annihilating him and you will destroy him ever so surely.

If this is true it is truly an outrage. The only deal is the one the crats got. Everything they wanted. We got nothing. Only thing to do now is support a third party that can hopefully pick up 10-15% of the vote and use it as leverage to bargain.

You might want to actually look at the results before you do that. I think you're going to be surprised.
