Announce Filibuster Compromise
Dingy Screed is bloviating... what a bunch of anencephalic miscreants.
Bleh... those who say 'no big deal'... PLEASE EXPLAIN.
This is the same damn deal Dingy Harry and KKK Byrd offered a while ago.
The "we promise not to 'buster, excpet in "extrmeme" circumstances" promise is worth 2 steaming piles of sheiite.
Look at how "extrmeme" Bolton was protreyd... look at how "extrmeme" Bush is portreyed... look how "extrmeme" Chaney is... look how "Extrmeme" Halliburton is... look how "extrmeme" Rumsfeld is... look how "extreme" Ownes and Pryor and Brown WERE (up until they conceded that they really aren't bad enough to keep out).
I fart in the GOP's general direction.
It doesn't matter. The liberals are in charge of the Senate now, especially after this. Just think about the power play. Who do you think is in charge of the Senate now? Frist or McCain? Whatever the House passes will be watered down in the Senate.
Sure, and they can trash her thoroughly in the process.
There is no institutional requirement of consistency and rationality, the Demagogic Party can do anything it wants anytime..... the filibuster issue has just been postponed to another day.
This sentence is why it was a loss. They got 6 Republicans to VOW not to ever vote for an end to a future filibuster. In other words, the Dems now have an ironclad agreement that gives them the right of rejection on any and all future Supreme Court nominees.
Oh come on! Take off the blinders. THIS IS A CAVE. I'm so sick and tired of cowards willing to get half.
McCain just handed the WH to Hillary Clinton.
amen!...I wouldn't trust these bozos to stand up to the paperboy!
I actually feel kind bad for the President. Imagine these clowns covering your back.....it's like having the French for Allies.
Her country needs her more.
Suck it up ; )
That's the deal????
"The Republicans in the Senate haven't convinced me of anything beyond being gutless, and never having lifted a finger for this President when he needed the heavy lifting done in Congress."
Exactly. So Wednesday they'll be back to doing the "people's business", right? In other words, Olympia Snowe will be back in her committee chair blocking any sort of Social Security reform with personal accounts (given a one-vote GOP majority on the committee.)
If you watch Frist's reaction, please ping me...I am too livid to want to watch now.
Next time you get a letter take your big red marker and print out your message in big letters over there request for money and put it back into their payed stamped envelopes and mail it to them. Enough of those letters returning to them in their stamped envelopes just might make a statement.
Well .. you can be guaranteed McCain has just totally ticked off the base. How does he plan to run for president without us ..??
Agree. I'm now calmed down, and I wish others on this thread would take a cold shower. This is our legislative branch in action....The Dems retreat, only to fight another day. In the meantime, we take territory (3 nominees approved). Nothing is set in stone. The Dems may bring up the filibuster again at some future time, but we have the option to drop the bomb on them. It isn't a total victory, but this is nowhere near the defeat some people here are characterizing it as.
Nothing has changed regarding Myers or Saad - Frist can bring them up for a vote at any time. Their nominations have exactly the same character that they had before this little media show.
McCain hates Frist so it wasn't hard for him to shove this in his face. They don't get along at all!
Ah thanks you very much.
But, ah will neither seek nor will ah accept your nomination for another term as Presdint of the Yewnahtid Stayts! Ah will spend the remhayndah of mah tahme in uffice trahing to bring an end to this tirrible...
The turncoat RINOs: McCain, DeWine, Snowe, Warner, Graham, Collins (update: chafee who is not present)
Each one must pay, and pay dearly.
IMHO, Graham is done next election, and DeWine is likely gone as well. The others were already lost to the dark side.
BTW, you can probably add Specter and Lott to the list, who wanted to be a part of it but could not be for political reasons.
