Announce Filibuster Compromise
BTW, the seven or more RINO's could do the same damage in the up-or-down vote.
=======
Who is to say they won't still?
He said this in his press conference. I heard it on FNC.
He claimed victory in the Jaws of Defeat. What is new about that?
Although he let his base then know they had lost.
He did stop an abuse of power. His own abuse. Funny how he turns this on it's ear. Saying the radical right learned a lesson when it was the Radical Left that paid the price and really had to change their evil ways.
But I am not fooled and neither is the American Public.
Because now it is personal. These fourteen made an agreement and if one side takes advantage of the other side then they will be mad. These fourteen are not on the same side, when puch comes to shove they lean to opposite sides. And we only need two to get mad enough to still vote nuke if the Dems renege.
Agree.
Well, shit.
F this.
I am a bit shocked the damn compromise actually worked, but I should have known the bastards would have done it.
Shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Naive doesn't even begin to describe your comments.
Here's what you are saying:
McCain, et al will be incensed if they are screwed by people that they know will screw them because they themselves have no principles and only care about their petty power grabs, egos and thinking they can get good press.
And even after decades and decades of lies, deceit and being stabbed in the back (remember the promise to Bush 41 they'd cut $2 in spending for every $1 increase in taxes ???), THIS TIME they are sure they got the upper hand to let three "extremely controversial" judges get a vote that still isn't guaranteed to confirm.
I've had better deals from crack whores.
pssst, she does know everything and it's not wise to try and debate through personal attack. She fights back! MEOW!
This is NOT a question of whether the glass is 1/2 full or 1/2 empty. This is a case of facing reality and knowing, through historical precedent, what's what.
Rob, what leads you to imagine that from here on out, the Dems will no longer hold up the president's judicial nominees? What leads you to imagine that they won't call ALL of them EXTREME?
Why is it that the damned Dems and RINOs agreeing to have an up or down vote on 3, THREE, nominees, when we could have ALL of the nominees granted an up or down vote, is a rosy scenario and one which we all should consider a victory?
The deal is done. We'll soon see how it works out.
I Stand Corrected.
No wonder why he is being so stupid.
and we sidestepped a terrible defeat
=======
No, we surrendered. It is better to learn from a defeat than surrender for fear of it.
Good, useful post. Thanks. Bookmarked.
Thanks for the compliment. :-)
Gee, no kidding? :)
The way past leaders reigned in their troops and PRIOR to this debacle. You take away perks and privileges and committee chair posts and MONEY and everything else you can think of.
How do you know that McCain, Graham and Warner haven't been threatened with the loss of perks and privileges? Do you think that McCain and Graham really care what a lame duck president and a lame duck leader think? Three years down the road Bush won't be here. Three years down the road Frist certainly won't be here(with people like you throwing him overboard). Heck these seven can simply cross party lines and become part of a Democrat majority and all except Graham would probably get reelected.
Yet it's easy for you to say Frist isn't doing enough to rein them in.
You makes their lives a living hell and you promises them the world ( who cares if you don't deliver? ) down the road, for hanging in there. How else do you think it works?
McCain to Frist:Why should I. My constituents like me, the press loves me and your base -- people like nopardons -- will throw you overboard in a NY minute. Heck I'll be here and you'll be long gone.
See a doctor.
7 of those 14 are lying Dems.
The 7 that are GOP might as well be Dems. They are RINO's..thus the name RINO.
They have no principles. They don't care about anything but themselves. Are you trying to actually convince me Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, daddy's boy Chaffee, John "I once shagged Liz Taylor" Warner and McCain's shoe shine boy have principles beyond their own egos and will not stand for being "deceived"?
Want to buy a transporter? They'll join the bandwagon themselves with the MSM (they love those Larry King interviews) and yap forever about "extreme judges" nominated for anything.
So if you are happy with Brown, Owen and Pryor maybe getting confirmed, fine. Screw Estrada and the others that gave up. To hell with any conservative in the future and let the Dems put more left wing activist on the court because any nominee by Bush from here on out will have "EC" attached to their name.
Extraordinary Circumstances will be the cause celeb for the next two years pounded to death by the NY Times, WAPOST, NBCBSABCNN, etc.
But you have a right to be optimistic and I applaud you for it.

Who is to say they won't still?
That's my point. There's not a dimes worth of difference between this battle and an up-or-down vote.
You still need 50 votes in either case.
I know what I am saying. And yes I think that McCain will be pissed if the Dems act as if there was no agreement and expect the Republicans to still abide by their half of the agreement. And so will the rest of the seven.
Under what circumstances would they not be pissed if this happened? The only one I can think of is if they are really Democrats in which case we never had the votes anyway so no loss.
We will see pretty soon, I'm done for the night. I understand your position, I just don't agree with it.
Is your glass always half empty?
A "total victory"? A TOTAL VICTORY? When the gang of 14 is now setting the rules of the game for not only the entire Senate, but as far as whom the president can or can not nominate and get the nuclear option off the table for two whole years?
Gee.........bottle whatever you're downing; you could make a fortune with it.
