Today, rioting broke out throughout Washington DC as enraged Americans protested the alleged desecration of the holy Bible by Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Yemen Muslims. The unsubstantiated report of the Bible desecration, was initially aired by Al Jazeera two days ago, then quickly disseminated by the American MSM. Anti-Middle East protests are spreading throughout the city and government officials fear that the rioting will soon extend to other American cities.
Thousands of fanatical Americans descended on Middle East embassies where flags were burned and Molotov cocktails were hurled. Major damage was done to virtually every Middle East embassy. Capital City police were unable to quell the demonstrations and were forced to fire on angry mobs, killing more than a dozen and wounding more than 100 throughout the city. Many state governors have reportedly alerted their respective National Guard units.
The chance of all the mayhem described in the foregoing paragraph is about as likely as the Suns fusion of hydrogen and helium being extinguished tomorrow.
Lets try again
Recently, Muslims (presumably fundamentalists) staged anti-U.S. protests in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Yemen. The deadly protests erupted over an alleged short article that appeared in the May 9, 2005 issue of Newsweek magazine. This unsubstantiated story reported that interrogators at Guantanamo had desecrated the holy Quran in view of Muslim detainees by flushing it down a toilet. Rioting originated in Afghanistan, then spread to Pakistan and Yemen. Angered protestors were further inflamed when police killed and wounded rioters. Seventeen are known dead and over 100 have been wounded. Shouting Death to America, protestors burned American flags, plundered and damaged facilities and equipment. It was the largest anti-American protest since the fall of the Taliban in 2001.
Okay. The preceding paragraph is true, but the Newsweek story is not. Just seven days after publishing its inflammatory story about the Guantanamo incident, Newsweek made a full retraction of its 300 word release. How sad. Through zealous eagerness to perhaps equal or better the infamous Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal, Newsweek let it rip. And rip it did. Our sterling MSM has once again stepped on its poncho. CBS stumbled with the forged Air National Guard records; and with the New York Times leading the way, the rest of the MSM pulverized the world with seemingly endless coverage of the Abu Ghraib debacle. Now this, undoubtedly the worst transgression made by our MSM to date, has done unfathomable damage to Americas diplomatic efforts. Likewise, it has effected a major setback in our endeavor to gain cultural credibility among all Muslim nations of the Middle East. And finally, it has undoubtedly denigrated our ongoing military effort to defeat terrorism.
All advances in the cause of seeking a peaceful coexistence with the Middle East were dealt a severe blow by Newsweeks journalistic fecklessness and recklessness. Muslims have become convinced that America is at war with Islam and, unfortunately, Newsweeks retraction will not convince Muslims otherwise. It represents a real setback in Americas effort to advance goodwill between Eastern and Western cultures as well as expand freedom throughout other Middle East countries.
Liberalism within the MSM has probably been as detrimental to our war on terrorism as the insurgents themselves. Like WWII we appear to be fighting on two fronts, a war against terrorism and a war against our liberal MSM and the Democrats. In good faith, the Secretary of Defense allowed correspondents to be imbedded within combat elements during the early stages of the war. The experiment was not without problems. There were many who certainly did not emulate the professionalism and patriotism of Ernie Pyle or Joe Galloway of past wars. There were exceptions of course. Ollie North continues to provide the up close and personal reporting that dismisses the spin and omits politics as a war correspondent.
The display of hatred within the non-fiction paragraph above is indicative of the problem we face in winning the hearts and minds of the entire Muslim world, both peaceful Muslims and the fundamentalists. They have been taught to hate us. We are the infidels, the non-believers.
Unfortunately, the preponderance of the MSM and too many Americans have only one interest in our war on terror that would be an exit strategy. Perhaps it is time to review: Who our enemy is; What intentions they have; What is the threat; What is our strategy to defeat terrorism; and, What is at stake if we lose the war. The following is a Question and Answer brief that will hopefully be read by those who would like to see the war on terrorism turned over to the United Nations and who have apparently forgotten the events of 9/11/01.
Q - Who are is enemy?
A - We combat an enemy with a mindset that believes that the killing of infidels while sacrificing oneself leads to martyrdom. A few have already sacrificed themselves to kill thousands of Americans and there are many more today that would gladly repeat that sacred path to martyrdom.
Q - Why do they hate us?
A - Because we are predominantly Christian, militarily and industrially powerful, successful in every aspect of the modern world, wealthy, and free. Oh, yes and we are supportive of Israel.
Q - Are all Muslims fanatical?
A - No, but the peaceful Muslims (the majority) appear helpless among the dominant (minority) fundamentalists. The peaceful Muslims mantra appears to be that of overlooking in most cases and following when pressured.
Q - Do Muslims want every living soul to convert to Islam?
A - Yes. The Quran states that Islam will eventually rule the world.
Q - Do Muslims believe theres enough room on this earth for two, three, or many more religions?
A - No. See answer above. All non-Islam peoples are considered infidels. Tolerance does not appear to be a Muslim word. Neither is denomination which is replaced with the word domination.
Q - How goes the war?
A - Americas military resolve has not wavered since our liberation of Iraq. Democratic elections have been conducted in Afghanistan and Iraq. Iraqi defense force is building, improving, and the Iraqis enemy is now recognized as foreign insurgents. We have a base of operations right in the middle of the Middle East countries and can react quickly to developing threats. Despite gains, there remains a sizeable segment of the American society that thinks the war was a mistake and wants America to bring home its troops yesterday.
Q - What is Americas strategy for winning the war?
A - Spreading democracy in the Middle East is the correct strategy for defeating terrorism and preventing future terrorist attacks within the United States. Premature withdrawal from Iraq with the suspected nuclear threat in Iran would only exacerbate the threat to our security.
Q - Can we win the war on terror?
A - We will win if we can maintain the will to win.
Q - What if we lose the war?
A - Forget Social Security. Forget our economy. Forget truth, justice, and the American way. Losing the war on terrorism will not be like losing our war to the North Vietnamese which we just withdrew to the satisfaction of our enemy, the MSM, and the preponderance of our countrymen. Nothing changed in our life styles. Of course, lots happened to our former allies, the South Vietnamese and Cambodians. Our economy will be destroyed because countries will cease to trade with us in fear of reprisal from our enemy.
Two steps forward and one step back. Newsweek unfortunately was responsible for one giant step backward in its May Day faux pas. In its zeal to achieve American liberal anti-war journalistic one-upmanship, Newsweek certainly deserves a twenty-one gun salute from those Jihadists who shout, Death to America.

The first step to winning any war is identification of the enemy.....and the MSM IS part of the enemy. I am fully satisfied that if every correspondant in the middle east were to be hanged as the traitors they are, we would be getting news reports from Hell within an hour (to paraphrase Gen. W.T. Sherman).
