From your fingers to Rove's ears!!! LOL
When Schumer got up tonight and immediately acted like this agreement assured that President Bush would "consult" with the dems before he nominate anyone else, especially for SCOTUS, I think he was delusional...
These kinds of actions don't make President Bush bend over for the dems, it makes him rare back to kick their butts!
Lunch with your Grandaughter is much more important than watching these dirtbags in the Senate posture and preen.
I bet fear of the 90-second national TV ads about this scheduled for tonight helped drive the GOP moderates into an agreement.
It was also reported in 2000 that he wasn't liked in the Pepublican Senate Caucus because he wasn't a team player. That has been proven tonight!
The morale issue is being missed in some of the analysis here.
The Republican base that put their heart and soul into electing Bush and a Republican Senate needed to see a win on this issue, not an anemic 60/40 I-think-maybe-we-won compromise.
I am not really glad that I was right---I was so disappointed when I read it, but I keep reading posts that says relax, the nuke option isn't dead...
The talking heads on TV saying relax, Frist still has the nuke option...
Who is fooling who, here?
As far as Graham is concerned re: claiming the dems have broken the agreement, I don't trust any of these traitors at all, especially McCain and Graham....
Graham is on the judiciary committee also, which means he can influence who makes it out of committee, also...
Yes, you are right, and when I am with her, I always forget about this stuff....thank you for reminding me!
A more accurate analogy is the other team forfeited.
Just to be clear, the Dems' promise not to filibuster does not apply to Saad and Myers. Their nominations are probably dead.
It's difficult to spin this as a grand Republican victory when the agreement means that two nominees (Saad and Myers) will not receive up or down votes.
Two words for John McCain:
"Tom Daschle!"
One # 2010---that is how long he has to do damage...
Well, according to a former Daschle aide, Graham was quick to work with Daschle and the minority on a number of issues. After one such meeting, Graham emerged from Daschle's office, walked to the door, turned around, and proclaimed loudly for the Daschle's entire staff to hear:
Thanks .. of course I won't be home to see it ..
Figures
Why do you think so?
OH, really, well, that surely is nice to know---thank you for letting us know about that quote....
Maybe when we call Graham's office tomorrow to let him know how "grateful" we are for what he did, we mention that he has admitted that he is only a Republican during the day, but of course this compromise was made at NIGHT--
Does that make him VAMPIRE DEMOCRAT?????
Because the promise not to filibuster is in the section on "future nominees". The agreement specifically says it does not apply to Saad or Myers.
I saw on another thread that Boxer said that two other nominees, Brett Kavanaugh and one other WILL NOT get out of committee or get a floor vote....so according to BABS it was a dem victory...
BTW, she was saying that as she was waving good-bye to John McCain as he was leaving to go to a premiere of the movie that was made about his life...
Does anyone wonder if this compromise was reached quickly so that McCain could take a victory lap around the press room on his way to his MOVIE PREMIERE????
It doesn't give the rats any more or less power of a filibuster than they would have obtained by retreating their filbuster on the 3. They gained nothing other than that which they had a right to retain without a deal.
