Handling of Rangers death called a sign of disrespect. Former NFL player Pat Tillman's family is lashing out against the Army, saying that the military's investigations into Tillman's friendly-fire death in Afghanistan last year were a sham and that Army efforts to cover up the truth have made it harder for them to deal with their loss.
More than a year after their son was shot several times by his fellow Army Rangers on a craggy hillside near the Pakistani border, Tillman's mother and father said in interviews that they believe the military and the government created a heroic tale about how their son died to foster a patriotic response across the country. They say the Army's "lies" about what happened have made them suspicious, and that they are certain they will never get the full story.

What??? You're kidding, right? That is, quite possibly, the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
Still troll huntin is always good sport, they are always in season and there's no bag limit.
Gotta watch out though. If ya hang out in the vicinity of a StarBucks or a granola grocery store, ya might get busted for hunted on a baited field!
Shouldn't you be somewhere stirring a huge boiling kettle and scaring small children?
It says his unit came under hostile fire. Not that he was killed by enemy fire. There's a difference.

Just replace the last two numbers with the numbers from the removed posst, and you can view the posts if they haven't been completely wiped yet.
Baited field.. Hmm..
Sorely tempting.
Burn a fistful of patchouli, leave a bunch of mopchajavas open, and have WiFi access, and the trolls would FLOCK to the spot.
Once flushed into the open like that, you could pick them off with impunity as long as the game warden doesn't wander by.
Heck, you could even, if one is truly demented, cammy up as one of them and pick them off from inside the flock.
Not sure they'd notice!
Kerry lied, disgraced the uniform and others so that he could build himself notoriety.
He said to Russert that he would file the standard form 180 and release his TOTAL records.
He has yet to do so, as that would show just how much he's lied about and that the swiftvets were correct.
Clinton lied, he insisted that terrorism was no real threat, said it in his non-actions.
He got Sailors killed on the U.S.S. Cole, Soldiers killed in Mogadishu, and the WTC bombed in 1993.
He flew a few planes and dropped a few bombs to get attation off himself.
And don't forget the Yugoslavian CIVILIANS whose blood Clinton has on his hands.
That quaint little war he waged to assist the Islamic terrorists known as the KLA against the 'evil' Serbs killed quite a few civilians.
If you want to talk about lies and people dying, you have to look at your boys first.
But, one never expects honesty from Murrymom.
You could say that about every soldier. How pedantic and insipid to say: "Soldier X was killed in combat today, but we don't know yet whether he was shot by the enemy or one of his own or maybe his own gun misfired or maybe he had a heart attack or maybe he stepped on a rusty nail or maybe he spontaneously combusted or maybe he was just killed because he posted something incredibly stupid on FR and was executed for being too stupid to live.
Yeah, what would some jackass attorney know about his own flesh and blood?
Being blown away by his own side doesn't affect his character at all. But the Army's lying about the circumstances of his death for PR purposes speaks volumes for the lapse of honor and integrity on the part of the Army. It also cheapens the value of the combat decoration the Army bestowed, because it was awarded to create a false impression rather than to honor a specific act of heroism.
given my initial post, that comment was called for. I hope you keep reading.
What are you talking about? That's exactly what happened. They were attacked and bullets flew. Of course, maybe he died of an infected hangnail or a popped pimple or jock itch or nail fungus or...
Like beating your head against a brick wall, ain't it?
If you say so...
When you're burdened with terrible grief, everything hurts. This never should have happened to this family, but the best thing to do is shut the door in any reporter's face.
What is your Immediate Action Drill (IAD) for a Near Ambush ....
Your IAD for a Far Ambush ...
Tillman's unit WAS under hostile fire and thought it was in an ambush ...
I know ... you think first reports are 100% accurate.... Maybe you think Notification Officers know all the facts....maybe you are hopelessly naive
I agree. However, I am surprised at how many people are so quick to condemn his parents. Losing a child must be a horribly painful experience. Anger, however misdirected it may be, is a natural response to grief. Pat Tillman is a true hero, no matter how he died. I will give his parents the benefit of the doubt here. They successfully raised two sons who believed in freedom and the US so strongly that they were willing to sacrifice their lives in its defense. (one was willing to sacrifice a career and financial gain that most can only dream of) I have faith that most reasonable people will see this for what it is---parents grieving over the loss of their son.
