"Everyone forgets McManiac can pull a Ross Pirouette and run independent." Actually, it would be more like 1980, in which a "moderate" Republican, John Anderson, ran as an independent. It still did not stop Ronald Reagan from winning the presidential election, even though there was a defector from his party in the mix.
I think McCain would be in about the same territory. He would take more votes from a Democratic candidate, especially a Howard Dean/John Kerry leftist type, than he would from the Republican candidate. There are a lot more "moderate" Democrats than there are "moderate" Republicans.

the POW issue will be McCains undoing......for his activities as a POW as well as his activities with kerry when they obfuxcated common sense and known facts to bring the issue to a dishonorable end in 1992.....

Everyone forgets McManiac can pull a Ross Pirouette and run independent. With approximately the same results.

Everyone forgets McManiac can pull a Ross Pirouette and run independent. But, wouldn't he, unlike Perot, siphon votes from the Dems, rather than the pubbies?

LET HIM. It's about time we Republicans split the Democratic vote. It would be great to have a 3-man race - 2 liberals and one conservative.
Come on Johnny Boy - I dare you.

I think he would pull more democrats than Republicans if he did. He would be a traitor to Republicans, a savior to Democrats.

BET ON IT!
There's a lot of hate in 'Little-John'... and it's mostly focused on his own Party. I bet the happiest month of his life was when the press circulated the tale that Kerry asked him to be VP.

Yes, McCain could run as an independent.
And in the next election he'll only carry the Gadsden Purchase.

Hey - why did you make this seemingly insane comment? Is there something that leads you to believe that McCain has ANY base of support in the Republican party?

Everyone forgets McManiac can pull a Ross Pirouette and run independent.Unlike his hero Theodore Roosevelt, McCain might pull away more Democrat voters than Republians.
Of course if he were to carry a few states, he'd wind up throwing the election into the Republican dominated House of Representatives.

Everyone forgets McManiac can pull a Ross Pirouette and run independent.Good, we need someone to counteract the probable third party run on Tancredo or some other "15 minutes of fame" isolationist.

Everyone forgets McManiac can pull a Ross Pirouette and run independent. You've got it half right. He will run as an independent, but not for president. He will declare himself an independent and accept Hillary's offer of the VP slot. He is a perfect complement to Hillary and it will be a very difficult ticket to beat.
