Political associates of US Secretary of State Condi Rice ar e stirring the pot on her behalf.

While she takes the high road, they are pushing her name out there.

'She definitely wants to be president,' said one.

But the friend added, Rice isn't planning on quitting [as Secretary of State] to run.

'She wants to be drafted,' the source said.

Do you really, honestly, ever think abortion will be outlawed in this Country? Are you willing to put a liberal Democrat in the WH because the GOP candidate is pro-choice? I know the answer, and that's what scares me.

I do. All it will take is a court that's willing to uphold the constitution.

No thanks. Condi is pro-abortion. Do we know her position on racial quotas (aka. "affirmative action")? I'm almost afraid to ask.

Condi is a fine secretary of state but will lose so many votes in the conservative heartland because of her pro-abortion stand that she would be a disastrous presidential candidate.

And that's exactly what the Hillary wants.

The real question is whether socially liberal Republicans will put a liberal Democrat in the White House by nominating a pro-abortion Republican candidate like Sec. Rice.

I think some see Rice as insulation from liberal attacks on both race and gender, particularly if Hillary is the Dem nominee. AFAIC, that's not the right way to choose a president. Besides, the Democrats have already proved they will be just as vicious and bigoted with a Republican black or a Republican woman as they would with a white man. Sheesh - have any of you been paying attention to what they've been saying about Janice Rogers Brown? And that's about a fraction of an appellate court, not the POTUS.

What worries me about Condi is the Democrats leaking something false like she is a lesbian. The media circus would be ridiculous and they would spend the next 6 months calling Republicans hypocrites.

Nah, if the Dems voters believed it (and I think it's unlikely, but not entirely impossible that she IS), the only way they could vote Dem would be to pass up the female/black/gay candidate in favor of a straight white male with a sweet little wife at his side (because the Dem Party only has straight white male candidates available, and will NOT let another candidate with a TeRAYzah-type wife onto their ticket). And the Dems would be forced to campaign on a platform of why a straight white male candidate with a sweet little wife would make a better President than Condi. The core Dem constituency would be lying paralyzed on their therapists sofas, and wouldn't make it to the polls.

This will happen and Rice would need to know how to deal with it.

What has Rice ever not known how to deal with? Her campaign staff would plant rumors that the Dem candidate ordered her outed, in retaliation for her having bedded down the Dem candidate's wife a few years back. Dems would end up looking like a bunch of National Enquirer devotees, as they tried to quash the rumor. Condi herself would stay far, far above the fray, never even acknowledging its existence.

My vote is Rice/Cornyn. John Cornyn, Rep Sen. from Texas has been very impressive. He is tough and brave. I think he is a rising star.

Yes it is. This effort to nominate a pro-abortion Republican presidential candidate like Sec. Rice is merely an attempt by the Republican left to permanently subvert the Republican party platform's plank against abortion. Most social conservatives will see through this and stay home since no single election would be worth having both parties become pro-abortion. Nominating a pro-abortion candidate like Sec. Rice as the Republican presidential or vice-presidential nominee will almost guarantee a Democrat victory. Surely all you party-over-principle types can even see this.

Oh, it's worse than that. I think there are many here who would proudly vote for the most left-wing Democrat possible if he/she was anti-abortion and the Republican candidate wasn't.

Here's my standard: If you'd give your support to a candidate who would trash foreign policy, national security, and our economy just because that candidate supported your religious views, you are not a conservative.
