Laura Ingraham had one of the perp professors on her radio show yesterday. Kinda sounded like a talking-points leftist to me...

These were liberals masquerading as Christians if you ask me.

"As Christians, we are called to be peacemakers and to initiate war only as a last resort," it said. Then what's your beef with President Bush?

"We believe your administration has launched an unjust and unjustified war in Iraq," said a letter signed by about one-third the college's 300 faculty members and published in Saturday's Grand Rapids Press.
"As Christians, we are called to be peacemakers and to initiate war only as a last resort," it said.
...Straight out of Rev. Jim Wallis' "God's Politics".

The anti-Budh move was run by a Soros funded grad. I saw the speech on FNC and it appeared to be he was very well-received. More B.S.

"As Christians, we are called to be peacemakers and to initiate war only as a last resort," it said. Then what, exactly, were the twelve years of UN Resolutions and weapons inspections?

I watched his speech and he was warmly received by those who were inside. They didn't show any of the nut cases he's talking about.

Calvin has been drifting leftwards for years. It is well known in this area.

Bush, a Methodist, often talks of the importance of faith in his life. Some critics see this as crossing a line between religion and politics. Some critics need to get a life.

Look on the bright side: they could only find 1 out of 3 faculty members to sign what 95 out of 100 faculty members on most campuses would sign in a heartbeat.

Does anybody here miss they days when the President could simply be "the President", and do something "Presidential" like give a non-partisan graduation speech (the speech WAS non-partisan and appropriate) without invoking protests by faculty, students, and rabble-rousers?

Calvin College is part of the liberal Christian Reformed Church. The denomination has rapidly moved to the left over the last 10 years. They got kicked out of one conservative organization (NAPARC) in 2002.
Bush would be better off sticking to religious convservatives.

And we learn how to come together by participating in our churches and temples and mosques and synagogues," Bush told graduating seniors at Calvin College, a Christian liberal-arts college.Churches, temples and synagogues aren't centers for the gathering of terrorists. Mosques are. I would not have been very receptive of this either. Mosques and Muslims are being put on an even, if not higher, plane than churches and Christians. Won't get applause from me.
To: Libloather
These are not the type of Christians that Bush's base is made of. They're Libs and part of the religious left.

Liberal Arts doesn't mean politically liberal. It means that the institution is open to study all fields. I teach at a Christian Liberal Arts University.
I find it amazing that so many of my evangelical colleagues are liberal -- pro Kerry, pro Dean, anti capital punishment, taking M. Moore's view on the liberation of Iraq, basically anti-American in the sense that our country is guilty of all kinds of wrongs.
These profs all received degrees from top schools, where it is really hard not be be liberal and please your thesis committee.
"God is not a Republican or a Democrat." That is obvious. But, is God pro-partial birth abortion, pro sodomy and gay marriage, pro letting tyrants torture innocent people by the thousands, who end up mowing down thousands of men and women and children to fill mass graves?
Wouldn't God approve of liberating 40 million people so that they can vote and live as they choose, perhaps getting the chance to hear the gospel? Wouldn't the Lord be just a tad bit happy if we stopped the torture and rape of women picked up off the streets, free children held in children's prisons and bring an end to mass killings?
If these liberal anti-Bush professor had their way Saddam would still be killing people and building nukes that he could smuggle into our cities.
We know on this site that the Democrats support and promote some really ugly principles and policies. Rather hard to come out and say this to clinched fist stanchy Democrats, but it is true.

Uh, liberal arts does not mean "liberal." It covers non-scientific disciplines such as history, literature, and philosophy.
The University of Dallas is a prime example of a "Christian liberal-arts college."
