Maj. John D. Kline, the son of Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., will be shipping off to Iraq this fall as part of the 101st Airborne Division.

Five hundred forty five other members of the leadership of our Federal Government have no children serving in our Armed Forces. I could be wrong about that number. Prove it.

434 other members of Congress, 100 Senators, 9 Supreme Court justices, a president, and a vice president do not have children in harm's way.

Excuse me for politicizing the FR Canteen! It ain't as if the actual USO were involved anymore.

Last week when the telephone tech was trying to fix my cable connection he wanted to test the connection by having me browse to cnn.com. Of course, I refused. He asked why. I told him that I don't navigate to the communist news network. He said, "Oh, we're not going to navigate the site. We're just going to test by going to that site." I still refused and said that all he was trying to do was to boost the hits on cnn. He then sighed and said, "OK, we'll go to another site."

Reporting LIVE! from the deep dark Mojave Desert near Fort Irwin, California, it’s Day 170 of Sarge's Most Excellent Adventure!

And once again, out in the great big circus tent, it's next to too rough to sleep, and after a scorching day, Sarge is back on the night watch. Some joker is playing a selection of the service marches in the HQ tent, and the subliminal singing has already started.

Bilbo and Barbie are on watch tonight with Sarge, as usual. Groan and Bobs (the newly-minted E-5 Bobs, for those who forgt), will take over tomorrow AM.

The Blue-eyed Devil was in his element last night - chewing foolish people out for stupid stuff. I honestly think he enjoys the challenge.

And of course, rumors are floating all over the place of things happening, like leaving the desert early, the field problem stopping ahead of schedule, that kind of thing. Sarge is reminded that rumors can be like roaches; meant to be squashed quickly. But like roaches, as soon as one gets the boot, three or five more pop up and lick the pot roast.

Sarge will be in the area for a long time tonight, so Let's Have Fun!
