This woman is the President and CFO of Pepsi.

"What is most crucial to my analogy of the five fingers as the five major continents, is that each of us in the U.S. – the long, middle finger – must be careful that when we extend our arm in either a business or political sense, we take pains to assure we are giving a hand, not the finger. Sometimes this very difficult. Because the U.S. – the middle finger – sticks out so much, we can send the wrong message unintentionally. Unfortunately, I think this is how the rest of the world looks at the U.S. right now.

By boycotting Pepsi products, we can actually have an impact. Getting them in the pocketbook is where it really hurts.

I am concerned about all of the other items that you listed, but disloyalty to the country in such a public way by a foreigner who is reaping the benefits of out way of life is over the top.

Heh, heh, this is even better than classic mistranslations by advertisers:

Pepsi: "Come alive. you're in the Pepsi Generation!"
In Chinese it came out as "Pepsi brings your ancestors back fron the dead!"

Coca-Cola: Rendered phonetically into Chinese characters, this product became in Chinese, "Bite the wax tadpole."

As comparison, look at the heat the Harvard Prez took over his male/female differences comments and what this anti-america Diva's stupid comments have rec'd especially from the MSMedia!
Ms. Nooyi needs her 40 days on the hot seat and then being released or demoted. Keep it up!

<< Our Supreme Court and society have allowed tens of millions of abortions
Every mainstream media outlet is an ally of the Islamofascists
Leftists continue to use government schools as tools to taint children with multiculturalism, environmentalism and other leftist dogma
The left wing flat out lies about Social Security, saying that there is no financial crisis and that any reform is a scam to rob the poor or feed the rich

For those transgressions, people get annoyed. >>

Sorry to hear about your overload.

But be secure in the knowlege that many of US are capable of dealing with more than one concern at once.

And that no-one has ordered that we or you must drop our concerns about and attentions to all or any of the items on your list as the prerequisite to going after this thread's subject un-and-anti-American.

But not for long.

Pepsico will milk all the publicity it can FRom this fat cow and will then put her out to pasture!

Point I was also going to make. The post was wrong because it is an either-or argument and does not recognize that we can "multi-task". Plus, one person's offense might not rate high on another's list.

I like Lays but there are many substitutes. Recently found Cape Cod jalapeno and cheese chips. Exceptional.

As a Pepsi stockholder and former employee, it's time to unload the stocks and start drinking Shasta brands. Appalling!!!

Joan Crawford was once on the Pepsi board way back when. I wonder if that is what inspired Michael Jackson to go after her look.

Here's my take--an executive of a major US Corporation takes the opportunity while speaking to the grads to point out "perceived" negatives about the United States....I don't read where she mentioned anything good except her own rise in the company. It's a free country. She can say what she likes. But pepsi has to understand that they are tied to her speach.

For the first time yesterday, I noticed that pepsi was the drink sold at the fountain at the Base Exchange....and I had negative feelings about that!

Sounds like she and Vicente Fox could have dinner together, and ask themselves how this misquotes or misinteprations get all mis construed. Either she didn't understand the Americans idea of 'middle finger philosophy' or she has a poor image of the USA.

Yup. Diet Pepsi is my favorite soft drink drink of all time, but I actually prefer Diet Sam's Choice to Diet Coke. Sam's Choice also tastes delicious with a bit of vanilla extract mixed in. They used to sell sugar-free raspberry syrup specifically for mixing in colas... mixed with vanilla extract... it was bliss. Not being produced anymore though. :-(

I guess it would be too much to ask that people actually read her remarks before sounding off, but here on FR, as with everywhere else these days, knee-jerk seems to be the mode of the day.

I don't think I completely agree with everything she said, but the level of outrage over her remarks is way out of line. Her fundamental message is that the power, wealth, and importance of the United States can be used as a force for either good or evil and that it is up to us to determine which it will be. I think her underlying message is one that is overly cautious, but the response to her remarks tends to give them credence.

Many on the right are becoming just as insufferable as those on the left. Have we truly become the United States of the Offended?

Is Ms. Nooyi married? Or have a family member named Raj? Because according to FEC records, someone named Raj Nooyi gave $27,000 to the Kerry campaign last year. Ms Nooyi has one record for a grand going to a Pepsi PAC.

Coke has a mellower flavor, it mixes better than Pepsi. Pepsi is pretty outstanding on its own. (I always thought RC was a poor third, but my redneck mama loved it.)
