If you spend time denying you're a kook, you probably are one.

Uh oh.

My first shock from lurking on DU is that they fervently believe that the mainstream media is totally in the tank for George W and conservative causes in general

They also seem to think that the new media is their domain.
I suppose that it might even be useful to let them think so. They left has been in front of the right in using the Internet as a campaign organization and candidate fund-raising apparatus, but we are WAY ahead in using the Internet as an alternative news source.

One of the major differences between left and right is that the left views corporations as evil (more regulation is better) vs. the right views excessive government as evil (corporations are, in a sense, an alternative to goverment power).

My sister the liberal is always agitating for more regulation to "protect people". I told her I'm not half as afraid of Nike as I am of the government.

You can see it in Hollywood movies. Who is always the bad guy? Check and see how many movies in which the bad is an industrialist/corporate person or company. Especially tobacco, drug, or chemical companies.

Skinner locks and deletes all posts about AndyScam but leaves up all the posts calling for sedition, treason, murder etc.

Nobody ever said DUmmies didn't deserve their name.

Yours is the best commentary on those guys.

I'm afraid to say this because I was recently accused of being bigoted against Germans, but I don't understand what Schadenfreude means. I know the dictionary definition, but will somebody please help me out?

"(And the fools have even encouraged us to own guns. Gosh, are they dumb bastards or are they dumb bastards?)"

I had missed this on my first reading. Seems to me this is very typical the libby leftists. They're agin it until they're for it.

Hawkeye Pierce was always for peace talks and stopping the war. But when someone opposed him or inconvenienced him, he was going to shove the gun down his throat or otherwise harm him. He was agin it until he was for it.

Funny though, this time it will be the middle class, at least what is left of it.<<

This is really the most telling statement. Don't any of them realize that they don't "own" the middle class? The DU's all believe the 50% and + who vote GOP are ultra-wealthy. When they go "burning and pillaging" I wonder how many of their first "victims" will be staunch Democrat lawyers?

AndyScam

Yeah, the DUers are beginning to feel like pigeons in a con game. Is it definite that Andy took 'em? There was a long thread there the other day by Pitt grousing about the need for answers to questions, but I can't tell what happened. They were stung badly by Bev Harris when it came to her voting machine revelations.

Last I heard, Andy actually is sick but not deathly ill, not cancer. His surgery is scheduled for the 26th

So the scam part was misrepresenting his illness. He needed the money but he didn't need it "yesterday" to save his life.

I don't understand what Schadenfreude means.

Perhaps an example would help. Suppose you are a NY Mets fans. You are living in the same city as Yankee fans, who have been reveling in their team's success since the days of Ruth and Gehrig. Last year, the Mets finished way out of the playoffs in the National League. The Yankees won their American League East championship, knocked off the Twins in the next round, and led the Boston Red Sox 3 games to zip en route to yet another American League pennant. Then, suddenly, the invincible Mariano Rivera gives up some key runs, and the Red Sox battle back to win Game 4. They proceed to win the next 3 games and thus become the first baseball team to win any post-season series after trailing 3 games to none. The joy that a Mets fan felt at the misery that the Yankees and their fans felt can best be described as Schadenfreude.

I personally believe those "divest yourself of everything" movements don't accomplish anything except creating a group of sad, deprived people.

Sadly, they seem to already be part of that group...

"We are very dangerous when they leave us with nothing more to lose."

This is exactly what I've said about these delusional individuals. They remind me of a hibernating islamofascist, fueled by rage and hatred....when they wake up and finally realize that no one wants to implement their socialist agenda--- they will take more extreme measures. Perhaps some will volunteer to carry out missions for the islamofascists, one never knows.
