Senators are right now debating the future of our courts and our democracy in Washington. Join MoveOn members across the country in round-the-clock, 24-hour Citizen Filibusters starting Tuesday May 24 at 12 Noon to send a message that senators should do the right thing.
This is an emergency. If Republicans succeed, theyll have complete power to reshape the Supreme Court, appointing justices who oppose the worker protections, women's rights, and environmental laws. This could be the most important decision the Senate makes this decade, because the impact of these lifetime appointments will be felt for a generation.
Please consider changing your schedule for the next couple of days to help out starting this Tuesday, May 24, at 12 noon. Host your own Citizen Filibuster to Stop the Right-Wing Power Grab or sign up for an event near you.

TOPICS: Constitution/Conservatism; Government; Politics/Elections

Real losers. They can't stand the idea of the left not being able to manipulate a liberal judiciary, can they??

"Citizen Filibuster to Stop the Right-Wing Power Grab"
Power grab???? What power grab?!?!? This is the elected majority doing what any elected majority would do (although one could argue that the 'pubbies aren't behaving at all like the majority party).

This is an emergency. Why do I picture the robot, from Lost In Space, flailing his arms about and saying, "Danger, danger, danger...."
These people are too much! Unhinged certainly comes to mind.

Without the Judiciary there is no liberal movement. They're deathly afraid as well they should be of losing this battle.
Without the courts to force the agenda of a small minority on the majority they're finished.
Consider it the mother of all political battles in the last 50 years.

Uh DUH! Judges are NOT appointed to make or break laws! they are there to INFORCE existing laws and the Constitution. NOT to put THEIR OWN spin on it like these Liberal Anti-Constitutionalists want. Don't like it Libs? Too bad. We have the power and we are damn sure gonna use it, just like you did to F-up the system in the first place. Sorry bout all your hard work Dim's. Your day is now over.

the president has a right to choose his judges as did all of the lib presidents before him. That's the way it works.

24 hour protest? Don't jobs get in the way?
And don't the judges who allegedly oppose women's rights, environmental law, blah blah blah, have a First Amendment right to do so? I just don't think very many apolitical judges exist and it's unfair to say someone isn't fit to serve merely because of his/her political views (though I understand that the above is a total misrepresentation of nominees political views). Judges should be evaluated on their performance as judges not on their political affiliations or points of view.

Don't jobs get in the way? I cannot believe that Liberal Activist hold jobs (unless Professional Protester counts)
To: ricks_place
In order for liberals to have a "citizen filibuster" that had any effect, they would have to be otherwise productive citizens, which by and large they are not. So, don't worry.
