NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) Heres news that will light the fire of Jim Morrison fans: A filmmaker claims The Doors frontman is alive and raising horses on a ranch in southern Oregon.
Rodeo photographer Gerald Pitts insists Morrison didnt die in July of 1971 and he has current photographs and film footage of the rocker to prove it.
Pitts, who met Morrison in 1998, says the rocker staged his death because of a French conspiracy to kill him, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix with narcotics because they were all Vietnam war protestors.
These days, Morrison isnt the drug user he once was, although Pitts says when he goes over to Jims house hell maybe have an occasional beer.
Now Pitts claims that Morrison is announcing hes alive, in part, to promote his recent agreement to star in a rodeo shoot-out movie based on events that actually happened to Pitts.
Pitts whole story airs on A Current Affair tomorrow (May 20).
Morrison got a lot of grief for the song "The Unknown Soldier".
The debate still rages over whether the song was simply tragic, sentimental imagery or anti war.
*shrug*
It works both ways.
I always thought that Jim Varney resembled Richard Speck.
"HOW ABOUT A DOORS REUNION TOUR IN 06!!!!!"
If Morrison is dead, this is really a scary prospect. Don't count on ME to buy a ticket. I don't want to watch a concert featuring a barf bucket-pretty singer.
He would get zapped off Free Republic faster than I got zapped off DU, the couple of times I foolishly tried to reason with them.
Could be, but I doubt it.
He really wasn't a member of Iron Butterfly until 1975...well after the 1969 In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida Iron Butterfly.
Still a little Twilight Zone-is but it could be that he ran off a cliff avoiding something
True. And I may very well be wrong in my opinion of Jim Morrison, by assuming that being a Rocker as he was, that his political persuasion would likely be just the opposite of most of us on Free Republic.
It's no secret around here that I am an old codger and must confess to a love hate relationship with hard Rock. Most of what I know about it I learned through my youngest son, born in 1956 and was growing up during those years. Over time we tended to compromise, mostly for our mutual survival, and learned to appreciate some of his Rock and he grudgingly admitted that not all country sucked.
He is a little more conservative himself these days, maybe I will discuss this with him the next time we talk.
Many people don't know that Jim Morrison's father was the youngest Admiral in the history of the US Navy. His home was very conservative and conventional.
People who come from such homes, more often than not, settle into middle age far more conservative than their 20-something esapades would seem to indicate.
hummmm....same jaw line......
Take the mascara-wearing, theatre-of-the-bizarre Alice Cooper as a good example.
He set the standard for "shock rock" and bands still try to emulate him to this day, yet he is as conservative as the day is long.
His favorite pastime is playing *golf*, fer cryin' out loud....:))
And then there's Ted Nugent.
If I live to be a hundred, I'll never forget my first sight of the long-haired, nearly naked, breechclout-wearing maniac screaming onstage.
He's so right-wing it's scary.
Gene Simmons, the blood-spouting, fire-breathing "demon bat" of KISS is a staunch political conservative who believes that -everyone- should have guns and use them when necessary.
Rock is full of surprises....:)
[loved your personal vow, BTW; "Determined to live long enough to see the death of liberalism."...and I hope you do]...;)
That's a fact Skooz.
I am sure that the word "Conservative" attached to anything, would have sent me running away to ayy place but, when I was young.
The word radical would probably have pulled me like a nail to a magnet. Wonder if the Loonie left, by forever calling us radicals, are inadvertently responsible for so many of the youing who are coming over to our side? Wouldn't that be ironic?
Like Art Linkletter made his fortune saying, "People are funny."
Liberalism is scary-I agree with you, hoping we soon witness the death of it.
With Jack Kennedy and Onassis?
I suppose it would be either to fake dying that admit you actually were living in France.
Does this mean Keith Richards might actually be alive also??
Yeah there's probably a rancher in southern oregon right now who wishes this idiot "journalist" would just let him raise his damn horses in peace.
Wow this is so cool - Jimi as a paratrooper and a hardcore anti-commie. Made my day!
I've seen this guy's photos of the supposed Jim Morrison, and they look nothing like him at all...
How many of us DO look like we did in the 70s?
