Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has said he will do what it takes to end the unconstitutional judicial filibusters. Why, then, has he allowed Senate lawyers to oppose a lawsuit that would accomplish this objective in court?
On May 2, Judicial Watch filed an appeal in its landmark lawsuit against the United States Senate to stop the misapplication of the filibuster rule to the judicial confirmation process, Judicial Watch, Inc. v. The United States Senate, et. al. (Civil Action 03-1066, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia). A liberal minority in the Senate, for the first time in U.S. history, is using Senate Rule XXII (the filibuster rule) to block the confirmation of a president’s judicial nominees. An objective of the lawsuit is to have the court declare this practice unconstitutional.
Republican leaders have chastised Senate Democrats for failing to provide an up-or-down vote on President Bush’s judicial nominees.

The rules of the Senate should be decided by the Senate, not the courts. They will read into the constitution whatever it is they desire to be true. The constitution only means what they want it to mean. I don't trust them.

Why is it that those who are elected by WE THE PEOPLE and who are suppose to represent WE THE PEOPLE, no longer feel that they need to LISTEN to WE THE PEOPLE?

WE THE PEOPLE only matter prior to ELECTIONS and when campaign contribution are needed? Only THEN, my opinion has value?

I am so ASHAMED of the direction that this Country is taking in terms of attacking the very entity which has successfully held this Nation together for over 200 years!
Why on earth Senator, do you think this country has been so successful? Other Country's, while they are JEALOUS, continuously attempt to emulate us! Oh, good grief. Apparently Judicial Watch hasn't been getting enough attention lately. So here they come, poking their wet nose under our elbow, saying, "Pet me, pet me." Arf.
1) Be concise. Write your letter, then let it sit a bit and then edit it. Quite a bit, in this case. Mark Twain once ended a letter to a friend by saying, "I apologize for writing such a long letter, but I didn't have time to write a short one." As you yourself seem to realize, something short and to the point is more likely to get read to the end.
2) Don't yell. Putting things in ALL CAPS gets old real quick. So does using *asterisks* for emphasis. If you are writing this on a word processor instead of a typewriter, try using bold print or italics. And in either case, be sparing. If everything is emphasized, nothing is emphasized. That includes using an exclamation point to end about 70% of the sentences.
3) Check your spelling and grammar, and don't depend on the computer to do it for you. "Country's" vs. countries (paragraph 6), "CHRISTIANS and CHRISTIANITY is now a DIRTY WORD" vs. ... are dirty words, "UNDO" vs "undue", "PRIVILEDGE" vs. privilege are examples.
4) Don't be self-indulgently self-righteous. For example - "I could continue, but I won't, since you probably stopped reading after the first paragraph anyway!" I can't think of a better sentence to get Senator Obama to stop reading than this one. Is that what you want him to do? Don't insult someone you want to get to listen to you.
Please understand, I am not addressing your points here. You have some good ones. But now put your mind not only to your points but how best to communicate them to Senator Obama. I realize you're angry, and there's nothing wrong with letting him know you're angry. But this reads more like a rant, and I don't think that's going to work.
Powerful letter, IleeneWright. It reminded me of when a woman called Rush's show & said that the Republican Party called her for money, and she said not until the Republicans do what they were elected to do.
Drudge had a guest on his show Sunday night, who said the Constitutional option vote is going to be close. Just a couple of senators could make the difference.
Even if none of these WAVERING senators is your own senator,
please call 'em, anyway.
The last I heard the six key GOP Senators are Collins (ME), DeWine (OH), Hagel (NE), Murkowski, Specter (PA), and Warner (VA). Frist can afford to lose only two, because McCain, Chafee, and Snowe have declined to end the judicial filibusters.
