You're on the list :-)
Makes one wonder, eh?
Eheheheh. Democratic deficit all right - Canada is a country which doesn't elect its head of state (being a constitutional monarchy), doesn't elect its cabinet (being a parliamentary system) and doesn't elect its senators (appointed by the PM or GG on advice of the PM, i forget). So anyway...
Our Senators are appointed for life, (till 75yrs. of age, which ever comes first.), by the Prime Minister.
Not that I'm anything other than 100% pro-American but, to be accurate, Canada does elect its Cabinet - or a least its members from their individual Ridings - while U.S. Cabinet members are Presidential appointees subsequently vetted and confirmed by its Senate.
well yeah, that's my point - they aren't elected to the cabinet. in a westminster system the cabinet is chosen by the prime minister. the members of the house of commons are only elected to their ridings.
odd senate you canadians have - i suppose it was designed to emulate the house of lords? except for the hereditary peerages, ehehehe. any progress on the 3E senate?
Isn't it interesting--I thought Martin was going to call an election immediately after the report.
This sounds as if he plans on continuing to stay in power after the report.
If Martin's mouth is moving, he's lying. That is the conclusion I have come to.
Hate to split hairs but ... your point is somewhat like saying that Bill Frist, as example, wasn't elected which he was to the Senate by his home state constituents but not to his subsequent position of Majority Leader within that body.
I hope your liberal government gets defeated. You Neighbors to the North deserve some good news.
I went driving in Ontario last year. Pretty country. Too pretty to be saddled with that government.
Thanks. We should know by 6:30pm est or so. I should be back online by 7pm, and will let you know. :-)
Just how socialist is your Liberal government (just to give us non-Free Dominion freepers an idea)?
Does the name Kanukistan give you any idea?
It looks like we are losing the vote. }-(
We have lost.
I'm looking to move to either Denver or Lake Tahoe/Reno after tonights vote. Canada is finished.
Could move easily to Detroit, but why move to a failing city.

Stephen Harpers speach tonight about losing the battle, but living still to win the war, kind of helped me.
Michael Harris is on CFRA tonight, talking about the vote, and the quisling. Check it out.Go to listen live
Chin up, we lost this battle but the war rages on.
We've lots of work to do here in Ontario before the next election.
Locally I'm encouraged by the number of young people getting involved.
Last weekend we chose an energetic, young (36) man of apparent principle to run in the next campaign.
He has the potential to reach out to portions of the electorate now considered to be 'owned' by the Fiberals.
What is the status of the same-sex 'marriage' bill?
Can it be treated as a non-confidence vote?
I don't know.
