OTTAWA (CP) - The uncertainty surrounding the federal budget vote Thursday has taken a bizarre twist.
CTV's Canada AM reported that Independent MP Carolyn Parrish, a former Liberal who was to vote with the government, has said told it she has appendicitis and may miss the crucial vote.
"She just told us she's got appendicitis and she's very sick," CTV's Robert Fife reported.
The Canada AM report said when asked whether she would be in the House for the vote on which rests the fate of the minority Liberal government, she said "I'm not sure."
In a full House of Commons, the Tories and Bloc Quebecois would hold 152 votes and so would the Liberals, with support from the NDP and Parrish.
Parrish is on record as saying she planned to support the Liberals.
Independents David Kilgour and Chuck Cadman were keeping secret Wednesday how they will vote. The Tories would need both to bring down the government.

That will cancel out the traitor.

They'll drag her worthless butt in there on her hospital bed if that's what it takes.
The best outcome I can think of is for the Liberal Gov't to actually fall on the budget vote, followed by Whorenach getting booted from her riding in the following election.

From what has been written about Canada's health care system, she may not survive the process.
I dislike Parrish but knowing her hatred for Martin, it would not surprise me to see her assist in the defeat of the government. She is safe in her riding as I understand it and should Martin lose an election it would be impossible for him to stay on as leader.
Any idea what time the vote is scheduled for?
You would think that with all of the corruption that's come to light, at least a few Liberals would have the decency to abstain from the vote.
Only the Liberals who want to keep their seats in the next election in not-so-safe ridings.
You mean--there are guys that would actually sleep with that?
Damn--thats--desperate.
That would be so deliciously wonderful. Frankly, Stronach has already committed political suicide. She was used by the Liberals and made her splash but they are still on their way out. And she will never be welcome in the Conservative Party again. She's a big fat ZERO!!
Do you think there's any chance Martin is desperate enough to try to make nice with Carolyn Parrish (Ms. Foul mouth) and offer her a portfolio? I honestly don't quite know what to believe except I think Stephen Harper must know he has the votes or he wouldn't risk this. I think Kilgour is onside now. He did not take kindly to the Stronach purchase.
Don't know what to expect. With a compliant media and all the capital to bribe with, Martin might, as some speculate, orchestrate his own defeat and then spend the next month and a half demonizing the conservatives with the hope of increasing his minority edge. If he thought he could take Parrish out as a two-for by demonizing her in her riding, floating in a star candidate, whatever, he might relish the opportunity.
My guess. tonight is a big yawn. Budget passes. Nothing happens and everyone starts planning their summer vacation because there is too much risk over an election period for all involved. T'would be a shame but there aren't too many politicians with the stones to take a real risk.
