Godfrey Davis, who wrote a biography of the Duke of Wellington, said, "I found an old account ledger that showed how the Duke spent his money. It was a far better clue to what he thought was really important than the reading of his letters or speeches." How we handle money reveals much about our priorities. That's why Jesus often talked about money. One-sixth of the Gospels' content, including one out of every three parables, touches on stewardship. Jesus wasn't a fundraiser. He dealt with money matters because money matters. For some of us, though, it matters too much. Jesus warned that we can become slaves to money. We may not think that money means more to us than God does. But Jesus did not say we must serve God more than we serve money. The issue isn't what occupies first place in our life, but whether we serve money at all. Pastor and author George Buttrick said, "Of all the masters the soul can choose, there are at last only two-God and money. All choices, however small, however the alternatives may be disguised, are but variants of this choice." Does your checkbook show that Jesus is the Master in your life? -Haddon Robinson
We choose a path that ends in pain; But joy and peace are in our soul When we pursue a heavenly goal. -D. De Haan For a quick check on your heart, check out your checkbook.
Jesus' Parables About Money |
Good Morning Dolly!
I am well.. got out my garbage (hauled a lot of wet, slimy stuff out of basement from last flood) and now can work at the computer for a bit.. Neat to see Snugs doing the Dose last night..
She's gonna be doing the thread in Thursdays while Rintinse is away and subbing for the other hosts when needed.
For everyone who did not see, Snugs posted her first Thread on the Dose and did a fantastic job. Not sure if it is temporary or permanent. Know they need another regular or two to share the work
you have wolfstar, gretchen, ohio, you , Mike & Eleanor now?
Yep! :o)
Dolly, thanks again for this fun thread - *YOU* are fun and a great hostess and sistah!
my mom seemed to REALLY enjoy that movie Immortal Beloved, but i have yet to see it. i think i'll go rent it.
My favourite is R2D2
Thanks for your kind words sorry I missed your star wars thread "live" because I was preparing the dose.
Better late than never Eleanor (and i KNOW what you mean about the time element to do a thread). I just found out this AM that the thread link I thought I sent out few days ago to various friends/family who are "star Wars" folks was in fact a link to a pix.. duh.
Yes, "I'm blonde" grows thin after awhile.
But those who visit will have the benefit of additonal pix/info.
Just got back from our chruch rummmage sale. Good respons from community. I couldn't help yesterday but helped today & with clean up. Many hands made the job go quickly.
see you "elsewhere" later, no doubt...
An excellent review of your personal history/involvement w/Star Wars, and along the way a good explanation of how Star Wars has evolved. Many of us have probably not been aware of the sequence of how these episodes evolved, let alone the relationships if we have a movie memory like mine Good show! Wheelbarrow
