When capital punishment is enacted in New England, you know it's about politics

The lethal injection that peacefully dispatched Michael Ross did far more violence to New England's sense of self than to the serial killer. The region hadn't witnessed an execution in four decades. The sight of harsh Southern customs creeping into their blue-state bastion deeply unnerved many New Englanders.

The sight of harsh Southern customs

What the F? Putting a murdering scum bag to death is likened to hanging a black in Georgia?

But most Europeans don't understand that capital punishment is a matter for the states, and that some states have been more enlightened than they.

The silly girl is being blinded by her own "enlightenment."

Holding the value of innocent life so highly that those who take that life are executed is a humane value. It is not a progressive idea to tolerate rabid dogs in our midst and it is certainly not a foreign idea here in New England that people are held accountable for their actions. Michael Ross killed eight females most too young to be called women. He raped most of them. Bringing about his death was not a move designed to deter others. It was designed to remove him from our society in the most final and uncompromising way possible. I accept the notion that the death penalty is not a deterent but then, neither are long jail sentences either. These sentences of death are meant to punish and remove the killer from human society.

This is a bit JWR balancing its publication with an alternative view. I say that's great!

Ross finally got what he deserved, although it came 20 years too late.

Liberals/progressives live in a world separated from reality and try to force the rest of us to pretend with them.

I'm surprised to find this kind of soft liberal nonsense being published in Jewish World Review. Ordinarily they are reliably sensible.

And what's that nonsense about importing capital punishment from the South? New England has a long history of capital punishment, just like every other part of the country.

"Foes of capital punishment need feel only pride for their principled position that killing is wrong, no matter who does it."

Foes of capital punishment, in order to be taken seriously, must also strongly oppose arbortion and euthanasia.

Many do, of course, but the many who do not are nothing but leftist criminal coddlers and enemies of innocent people everywhere.

Elvis once said: "(Capital punishment) may not prevent killers from killing, but it prevents them from killing again"

What a bunch of crap. I come from the blue state known as Connecticut and I was damn thrilled to see Michael Ross out of our misery and not consuming more taxpayer dollars.

Now if only they clear out the remainder of death row.
