Prime Minister of Egypt Ahmed Nazif and British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw met separately with President Bush at the White House.

A grenade thrown toward President Bush in the former Soviet republic of Georgia was live, but failed to explode because of a malfunction, the FBI said today.

President's remarks at the RNC Presidential Gala last night.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!

Happy Birthday, texasflower. You must be a beautiful and smart woman to be born a Taurus. My bday is Saturday, May 21st. I'm really and truly entering the over-the-hill crowd, coming up on my 51st bday. interestingly, my own grandmother is TWICE MY AGE. Or I should say, she's lives twice as long as me. She is 102.

Happy bday, fellow Taurean!

Thanks, as always, for the ping. What's so interesting about this photograph with Rob Portman and Carlos Gutierrez shows the Washington Hotel behind them. When we went to Washington last year during my daughter's spring break, we stayed at the Washington Hotel. having visited Washington and knowing the land a little, it's quite a pleasure to recognize landmarks.

I don't know where it's encoded that the Chief of Staff does so many of the swearings-in, but it is one of his duties.

I am about 90 miles north-northwest from St. Helens. I'm closer to Mt. Rainier. Both are active volcanoes, with Rainier presenting potentially a much more devastating scenario if it erupts, or collapses one of its sides and sends a mud flow down through an area that houses hundreds of thousands of people, as it has done in times past. I live on high ground, above the valleys where the flows have gone, but one can't guarantee being on high ground if an eruption occurs. Just last week the Eastside Journal (local paper) had an article about Rainier and the danger she poses. It's just been a while since Rainier caused problems. Scientists say there could be no warning before one of the sides gives way. So ... it's incredibly beautiful here, but we have our share of dangers to contend with.

CaliforniaRichGirl is 17, so we have at least two teenagers with us.

Good for both of them! There's hope yet among our young people. I mean, at least in Kelly's case, she's doing this on her own with obviously no support from her liberal family. I know I wouldn't have had the (insert favorite word here) to buck my family. Thank heavens both my mother and father were conservative.

You know, I don't know! Might be fun to run a little poll to find out just how many there may be.
