Free Korans for the American People

An Islamic civil rights group is launching a Koran giveaway -- a campaign intended to turn a "negative incident into something more positive," it said.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations planned to hold a Tuesday morning news conference to discuss details of its campaign to offer free Korans to the American public.

CAIR said its campaign is a direct response to the controversy generated by Newsweek magazine's May 9 article claiming that U.S. interrogators at Guantanamo Bay flushed a Koran down a toilet in an effort to "rattle" detainees.

Newsweek retracted the anonymously sourced story on Monday, after first admitting that parts of it were wrong.

CAIR said its campaign, called "Explore the Koran," involves the community-sponsored distribution of Islam's revealed text to Americans nationwide.

"It is our belief that greater access to Islam's holy book will help foster a better appreciation and understanding of Islam by ordinary Americans," said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad.

Last week, CAIR called on the Bush administration to launch a public probe of the Koran-flushing allegations..."

(I wonder if they have a PR version for Americans? .. otherwise ...)

I will agree that we are a Christian nation in that most of us profess to be Christian. We do not however have a Christian government (theocracy.)

Did someone say we had a theocracy? Personally, I think most people understand the concept of a Christian nation when referring to our founding, even a Judeo-Christian nation. The idea that that has some force in law is a liberal strawman.

Give one to that emboldened Muslim woman who has now learned the tricks of the lawsuit trade by forcing Amazon.com to apology for her desecrated version ordered from their website. She will next sue for money. Send her a book before Amazon has to bow down and fix her feelings by setting up tolerance classes.

Not bad!

I might tidy up the place with some pictures of an exploding mosque or two, but hey!.. that's just me.

(... that was not hate speech. That was an opinion, Y'All!)

Has anyone here thought about going to their mosques to see what is really going on in them? You know...pretend that you're interested in their religion?

"what is really going on in them?"

I found out on September 11, 2001.

I need no further instructions in this matter.

BTW, I sometimes wonder if we wouldn't be better off if we followed the old pattern and let the Navy/Marines handle foreign affairs rather than State, at least when lives are at risk.

Why doesn't someone ask these CAIR guys why we can't send Bibles to Saudi Arabia?

We can. What's done with them after they get there is another matter.

I think it's against the law to possess a Bible in Saudi.

The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.

Good point, if you believe 'government' and 'nation' are synonymous.

http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3a3e2a877c57.htm

The full text is as follows. Reminds me modern attempts to appease Muslims.

"As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion as it has in itself no character of enmity [hatred] against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen [Muslims] and as the said States [America] have never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

I want to see for myself how vile this "religion" is.

Here you go read on Mcduff

Islam rises and falls on Muhammad. He is the religion's sole prophet, Islam’s solitary example, Allah’s lone conduit. Without Muhammad, Allah, the Qur’an, and Islam would be unknown. Yet the picture the Islamic scriptures paint of this man is not flattering; his words aren’t believable. According to the Qur’an and Hadith, Muhammad was a thief, rapist, and terrorist. It’s hardly the example you’d want your neighbor to emulate.
