O'Malley accuses Ehrlich of smear campaign

Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley today accused Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. of orchestrating a taxpayer-financed campaign of character assassination by allowing state employees to continue to fuel a rumor about marital discord between the mayor and his wife, Katie Curran O'Malley.

The mayor was responding today to questions that it was his wife, and not Ehrlich aides, who first publicly pronounced the rumor's existence shortly after he was elected mayor in 1999.

"There's a big difference between public wonderings about a young couple thrust into the spotlight of being the city's first family, and a premeditated, orchestrated and relentless campaign run by dirty trick operatives close to the governor funded on state taxpayer dollars," O'Malley said at a City Hall news conference.

"I'm calling upon the governor to end this cowardly abuse of power. I'm calling upon the governor to fire the remaining members of his taxpayer financed dirty tricks team. And I'm calling on the governor to stop right now the politics of character smear and character assassination that apparently he learned at the elbow of Newt Gingrich,"

OK, who has the official seal of the Democratic Party graphic? Crybaby O'Malley fits it perfectly.

a young couple thrust into the spotlight

"Young"? Time Magazine says he's 42, with four kids ... we're not talking 21-year-old newlyweds here. My husband and I are (ulp!) contemporaries of the O'Malleys, and we do not refer to ourselves as a "young couple."

Reading Mr. O'Malley's promotional materials reminds me of Henry Cisneros, former mayor of San Antonio, Tx ... and Henry had a chickie on the side.

O'Malley is nothing more than an Anti-American, Illegals first, POS. And I will be making sure everyone in MD knows it when he starts to run for Governor. He might think giving taxpayer money to illegals to get them to come to Baltimore is ok, but I know an awfull lot of people(All parties and races)that don't agree.

Sure wish we could bring this POS up on charges.

O'Malley should be proud of himself and bragging. The east coast dem leaders seem to have been banging other males. O'Malley's getting some from a good looking female media type. But, I don't understand the "rumors" part. A capable media, one that wanted the truth for a change, could get proof at the next intimate little meal at that dark (and expensive) little place they both love. Where? Check out his expense accounts and see what O'Malley is billing the city for.

It is revealed that his wife started the rumor-mongering, and in one strike-back-at-the-nasty-Republican statement he manages to get in "abuse of power", "ditry tricks", and "Newt Gingrich". Wow, that's impressive.

He's now qualified to become the next Democrat presidential nominee to lose to a Republican.

I love this. MOM's wife, Katie, was spreading these rumors to the WaPost back in 2000. She was implicating that her husband's opponents tried to harm him with these "false" rumors. Keep in mind that his opponents back in 2000 were Democrats. Mainly black democrats.

The O'Malleys keep the rumors going and then conviently blame whoever is opposing Martin of spreading rumors. We know that it was MD4Bush that spread those rumors, not NCPAC. But if MOM says that it was NCPAC then by god the press is going to go along with it. I hope enough people in Maryland will continue to support the Governor and not this POS Mayor.

Mayor O'Malley's full remarks are here. He's continuing to play the "my poor children" card, and claiming Governor Ehrlich still has dirty tricksters on the payroll. How would he know that?

How would he know that?

He doesn't but he is a Baltimore DemocRAT and thus whatever he says is considered to be the truth.

O'Malley's rants reek of sexual frustration brought on by all the media attention to the "rumors" about his infidelity that have forced him to temporary stop seeing his girlfriend(s)...

I think the real issue here is the exposure of the liberal media in Maryland that walks in lockstep with the Democrat politicians to twist the news and keep Maryland voters in the dark.

The successful taking of the Governors office by a Republican after thirty years has caused the Democrats to go into panic mode and up the dirty tactics in order to defame the Governor and win back the Governors office.

This is the reason why exposing MD4BUSH is so important. If the person(s) responsible are exposed and they turn out to be Democrats which we all know they will be, it will cause irreversible damage to the Democratic party in Maryland and the news outlets who conspired to fraud the public.

Newspaper circulation of the Baltimore Sun is already in decline and the Sun has reduced its staff. The public likes the Governor and the Baltimore Sun has no credit with the public. This is probably why the story broke in the Washington Post to gain a more believable edge to the story.

The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun, and the mayors office work as one, and it seems as though WBAL will see this story runs its course.

The most successful talk radio in this 2:1 Democratic state is conservative radio by far, which is kind of ironic if you think about it.

I believe this state could flip from Democrat to Republican in the blink of an eye if the shoe drops on this story.

But, you already know this, being from the Balmer area too.

This whiner makes me embarrassed to say Baltimore is my hometown.

No offense meant but Baltimore is an embarrassment with or without the whiner.

They consistently carry the rest of the state down the dim-lib 'twalet'.

For the past 40-odd years that I could read a paper, the Sun has been clearly liberal, and clearly biased. City Paper (and since you're from Balmer, I bet you know its alternative name-grin-) is just a socialist rag with a personals section. There is no other paper here.

There is NO paper here.

I hope that you're right about moving Maryland in a conservative direction, but between the media and the college professors, I don't see it.
