TAMPA, Fla. -- A 13-year-old girl who was killed and dumped in a pond last month suffered years of abuse that included reports of beatings and witnessing violent fights between her parents, records show.
More than 1,000 pages of files from the state Department of Children & Families were released Tuesday detailing the family of Sarah Michelle Lunde and the background of David Lee Onstott, the convicted sex offender accused of strangling her.

What angers me is that so many potential loving parents cannot conceive or have trouble adopting, yet idiots like these folks are as fertile as the Nile.
That someone could treat their own child with such hatred boggles my mind.
That mother should be rounded up and put in jail also. What a sick woman, to allow her children to go through that. But oh no, she will go on her merry way, probably living off the state with not a care in the world, and hey, one less child to worry about.
I thank God that child is safe now. Too bad the humans responsible did not protect her.
Just another example of selfish parents, marry a loser, divorce, marry or shack-up with another loser, etc....and the beat goes on.....
I agree.
That poor child, what a horrid life and then to die like that. She can rest easy now.
I agree.
I like your tag line and know that it is true....when I read stories like these I hope it happens sooner rather than later.
Have a great day!
I thank God that I have sole custody of my daughter.
Her mother told me one time, "Being a parent takes up too much of my social life." I was happy to help out - and filed for sole custody three days later.
1000+ pages!!!! How many pages are needed before someone steps in and takes this girl???
'Her mother told me one time, "Being a parent takes up too much of my social life."'
I heard a few "parents" say similar things. It basically translates to, "It's harder to get laid if you have a kid hanging around."
The mother should be serving time as well.
Well, that much is true - but it's only a problem if you make that a priority in your life. Unfortunately, it's a priority in too many people's lives.
What a short, brutal life this girl had. Absolutely heartbreaking.
My exact first thought! There ought to be an investigation here!
There seems no end to the stories of wickedness these days.
What you said. Disgusting ain't it?
I so totally agree. Our adopted child's birth giver ("birth/real parent" is a misnomer, they aren't parents - I AM THE REAL PARENT) gave up two that I know of because they were interfering with her social life. I say "gave up" but with the family history of cousins being adopted out as well it was more of a business.
Thank you. I am adopted, as is my brother.
I refer to my birth parents or biological parents and my real parents. My real parents are the ones that adopted me 41 years ago and raised me. My biological parents - mom gave me up because dad flew the coop when he found out she was pregnant. She was Hispanic, he was white - and she knew that she couldn't give me a good home. I love her for what she did. I don't think anything about my biological dad.
But thank you for adopting, and for the "real parent" attitude.
Thanks for posting this. When she was first found, the pastor of the little girl made it sound like she had lived under horrific circumstances, but it seemed like nothing else was said on the subject.
Most of these children who fall victim to violent crime are the offspring of negligent or abusive parents, it seems. If the kids were under better supervision, they would not be placed in such perilous circumstances to begin with.
Civilized parents generally don't try to have children until they are educationally and financially prepared to support them, which for many means that their fertility has declined before they start trying. The people involved in stories like this generally begin reproducing in their teens, when women's fertility is highest.
