You're right. I had a real grudge against the Boomers before I realized that you guys were set up by your predecessors. I've had several heart-to-heart's with my mom and she told me about the messages delivered by her teachers. "Girls can do anything boys can do." "Go to school, go to college, get a job. Don't just be a housewife." The destruction was happening, even then.
I suppose your generation just had better press.
I'm with you. I'm a boomer with my own retirement accounts and I don't care if I ever get Social Security. I would like to have it revamped for my son, his family, and others who are just starting out. I've been running my own small business since I was 25, paying gazillion taxes, and employing many young people over the years. I was temporarily a sort of hippie from age 17 to 21.
Well, that's nice but you are going to get your dime and future generations will pay for it with greatly reduced standards of living, social disintegration, etc.
Amen. While I bemoan generational warfare, after all, it's not like every generation hasn't had their share of commie whackjobs but the generation that preceded boomers gave us social security, the new deal, the great society and let Stalin run amok when we could have stopped him and the cold war right then and there. Instead Truman though "he could do business" with him. And they call Bush stupid.
The "greatest generation" ushered in wealth redistribution and a socialist trend that this country will never reverse.
The villain in all this isn't a generation, it's a commie mindset that's infiltrated both political parties, just one more than the other.
See my tagline.
So what will you do with your SS check?
Try to send it back? Donate the amount to charity? Other?
I ask because your statement is refreshing and I'm surprised by it. Most boomers I see whining on the SS threads insist they only "deserve" to "get back what they put in".
