I'm with you. I'm a boomer with my own retirement accounts and I don't care if I ever get Social Security. I would like to have it revamped for my son, his family, and others who are just starting out. I've been running my own small business since I was 25, paying gazillion taxes, and employing many young people over the years. I was temporarily a sort of hippie from age 17 to 21.

Isn't everyone at that age at one time or another? Wised up at 24 and never looked back. I've never blamed any generation before or after me for my successes or failures. I am in charge of where I go in this life. Except for the intrusion of the government from time to time, we are ALL to blame for where we end up in life! So, as a previous poster wrote:

I don't think this defeatist attitude is going to help anything. I don't care if you are a boomer, gen Xer, gen Yer, you should absolutely demand you receive your SS benefits. The alternative should be US taxpayers marching on D.C. and burning it to the ground. If this country can afford to go around destroying and rebuilding foreign countries, provide relief to half of S. Asia and host thousands of illegals on the taxpayer dime, it sure as hell can live up to its commitment to SS participants. Anything less is grounds for a civil war.
