Thank you for helping to defend the constitution of the US?? That's rich!

Of Course! RATs are always defending the Constitution.

That's why Slick was getting all those Monicas in the Oval Office - he was just defendin' the Constitution (Clinton actually said something close to this).

How, when, who confirmed the dems closed it down?

Reid said, at the open of business, that there was no longer unanimous consent to operate the committees. The shutdown is on DEM say so, and will be clearly reflected in the Congressional Record.

Why is Nancy Pelosi, who is not a Senator, involved in this at all?

Can you just imagine the howling if Tom Delay gave a presser to advise the Senators on how to vote?

The MSM would have a frickin' stroke.

Hannity just said that Harry Reid has been hit with an ethics complaint about his little disclosure on the Senate floor of Judge Saad's "confidential FBI file" and that is "contains something to keep him from confirmation"...

Ethics complaint---we will never hear about it again, betcha!

Will the Dems save the Senate and the People and say: "In the interest of all the people and keeping the Senate open for all matters, we will not permit the Repubs to shut down the Senate with these tactics." "We will give two nominees an up and down simple majority vote." ('cause we just realized that the two bases are larger than the pro-abortion base.)

Rather than risk having the votes he thinks he has evaporate in a last minute compromise, Senator Frist needs to let any potential Republican peel-off votes know in no uncertain terms that any Senator voting against the constitutional option will find it very difficult, if not impossible to pass any appropriation for his state, even for a new courthouse drinking fountain. That is possibly one of the few things that will get through to these people. Also, Senator Dole of the Republican Senatorial election committee should also make it known that re-election funds for those Senators who vote against the Constitutional option would be similarly scarce.

As a total aside, it occurred to me this morning, watching Arlen Specter that I think we can probably count on him to vote FOR the constitutional option. He won't do it out of any respect for the Constitution or out of support for these judges, however. His comments to the press indicate he would be very likely to vote with Democrats against these judges, because, in his view they represent extreme positions. Rather, he will vote for the Constitutional option simply because it makes him the most powerful man in the Senate when it comes to judges. He schedules committee meetings to vote nominees out of committee onto the floor. Therefore, he becomes the "guardian" that can assure the press and his dear Democrat friends (such as Biden, with whom he rides home on the train every evening) that no extreme nominees will get out of committee. Yes, he had to let Rogers-Brown, Owens and Pryor out, but that was just to get into the position of power.

Good find! Wish a Republican Senator (Frist perhaps) would read all similar Dem quotes into the record - when the camera is on!

Then challenge them to explain why they are flip-flopping on the issue of judicial nominees and filibusters. The flip flopping charge does resonate with people who do not usually pay attention.

All the GOP wants is a vote on the floor

I think you will be surprised at how many of these nominees will be defeated by Republicans voting "nay".
