Of course it would. The Democrats don't play by the rules. that's why this objection we should reserve the filibuster for our use is absurd, on more than one level. We know what this group of Democrats would do and that is why they must be crushed.
I'm of the opinion they need to wander the wildness for 40 years till they die and an uncorrupted generation assumes control of the party.

If we can pack the courts with true conservatives (esp the SC)... I don't care what a democratic controlled senate may legislate in the future. I think in our current system of government I'd rather control the courts.. :)
I just hope these judges are as conservative as we're led to believe. We're going to the mat for them.

Thank you so much for the updates, I'm glad to hear the Pubs are standing tall and being awesome. I'll check out Hewitt's blog right now.
ABC radio news just had to give one of Specters "can't we just all be moderate and get along" quotes during their top of the hour update. Typical.

Not One Dime: Have You Made The Call Today?
I've held off mentioning the Not One Dime campaign, where Republicans have pledged to withhold all 2005 contributions to Senate campaigns and the national party until the GOP forces a vote on the Byrd option and eliminates filibusters on judicial confirmations. Now that Bill Frist has moved to do that, we need to make sure that we continue our pressure on the individual Republican Senators to ensure they support the motion when it comes up for a vote.
Please call the Capitol switchboard at 202-225-3121, and ask to speak to at least one of the "wobblies" today. I called earlier and spoke to staffers in the offices of Susan Collins and John Warner; Chuck Hagel, Olympia Snowe, Lincoln Chaffee, and John McCain will be on my list later. Call while the offices are open and make sure you speak to someone live, and if you can do it, call as many of these as you can.
Here are some tips:
* Don't just be polite; be friendly and sympathetic. The staffers are not enemies, and they're overworked and underpaid.
* Tell them you're calling as part of the Not One Dime effort, and that you plan on withholding funds from the NRSC until the Byrd option succeeds, and will not give a dime to any Senator who opposes it.
* If they ask you about Not One Dime (doubtful -- they're very busy), feel free to refer them to CQ for an explanation.
E-mail has an impact, but phone calls get attention, and funds at risk get even more. Make sure your voice is heard this week. (Thanks to Hugh Hewitt for the reminder.)

You're leaving out the Presidential vote. That's part of the equation otherwise it would be the Senate having the whole ball of wax....and that is not the case.
I am using Schumer's own quote. He is claiming that we are trampling on the rights of the minority in the Senate and then in the next sentence, he claims that the DEMS actually speak for the MAJORITY of the country, according to his stupid statistic.

Mark my words, they will do it immediately should they get the majority. And it will be done even if we backed away from this fight and let them keep it. This is absolutely true and cannot be repeated often enough.
The Democrats have shown remarkable party discipline in the minority--no reason to believe they'd behave differently as the majority. The filibuster will end--the only question is whether it happens now, while we are in the majority, or later, when we are not.

Why is Baucus quoting all these poll results and election results?
To: Miss Marple
Of course you are right. I don't have the TV on right now, but even without Kennedy's or anybody else's words it's apparent this is what they'd do.
And not blink an eye.

Baucus is trying to whistle pass the graveyard.
Outlining now the 94 sweep by the GOP.
To: SolomoninSouthDakota
Didn't Baucus get the memo about the "separation of church and state?"

Yep, keep in mind the last election. Judgeships was a key issue in defeating Daschle. Don't forget it.
