pouring coffee into a saucer seems to be an old time country habit. Many of the older hard working country men would do that. My grandfather from southern Missouri and his son-in-law from Kentucky did that all the time. I always wondered if it had to do with all the grounds in the coffee. They put the grounds into boiling water and boiled the life out of it...no filters back then LOL

myself must ask if a filibuster was used to deny Fortas a judicial appointment

Fortas was not filibustered during his initial appointment to the circuit courts. He was filibustered during his elevation to the Supreme Court.

Shoot! Proofreading is your friend. I mean the Pubbies are holding back and the Dems are still getting beaten three to one in fundraising.

"Also, remember to get out the bleach bottle and pour it in the toilets! Smells like you've been doing housework!"

Good one, thanks for the tip. As a stay at home and retired dad I always use lemon scented cleaning products.

Sesions is reciting examples of the Active Judiciary!

He is doing a great job of laying out what the problem is with the out of control judges. Hodding Carter admitted that liberals needed judges to do things for them that they couldn't get at the ballot box.

That would make sense, my dad was raised on a farm in Virginia. I always thought it was quaint.

(BTW..I sent money to Thune...twice. (Nevada, look for my in-coming check when Dingy Harry is up for re-election.)

Reid is a lightweight. But I'll be fair, we have our own mental lightweights too. But they aren't in the leadership of the Party.

Sessions- Unelected judges given lifetime appointment independent and unaccountable to public should not set social and political judgement for the country. Amen!!!

I knew what you meant! I make typos, too.

Sessions discussing that life-time appointment judges should not set social and political standards in this country.

If that's the reason it make more sense than cooling it down- all this talk of coffee... I'm needing to get up and git me some...

Must be an east coast thing..

I think it is, or was, a southern thing. I was born and raised in FL before it was transformed into a giant retirement home for yankee retirees. Many of the adults I knew as a kid cooled their coffee in the saucer. Some, like my grand-dad, blew on it to cool it and then poured it back into the cup to let it mix with the hot coffee that was still there. Others simply blew on it a few times and then sipped from the edge of the saucer.

That was in the days long before automatic coffee makers so the coffee was perked on the stove and was boiling hot. With automatic coffee makers today the coffee is not too hot to drink as soon as it's poured, so the old custom seems to have died out even among the older folks down here.

I believe that Sessions was a victim of the dem obstruction machine before regarding a Judicial appointment.

Hey, I just got a TV connected to satellite by my computer last year! Before that I had to turn up the TV in the family room REALLY LOUD and I couldn't watch and post in the evening, since hubby likes to watch almost anything other than C-SPAN.

Plus, a satellite radio costs $$ which I am spending on flowers. Maybe I will get one for Christmas.
