Welcome, all you Freepers, to the continuing C-span soap operas about judicial nominations. "The Guiding SEARCHLIGHT, " "As the SENATE Turns, "One NOMINATION to Live" "GERIATRIC Hospital" (for all you Byrd and Lautenberg fans out there). Follow along with us, as the Dems raise the level of histrionics, bloviation, pontification, and all around bad acting to new highs, er, lows...
Okay....mark Schumer down for Gonzales.
Chuckie should be a used car salesman.
Yep, they are making this a 3 shower day.
the internet ether is infinite!
Very good, Andrew!
I'm stuck at the store doing AP today, but I did manage to call the DC offices (877-762-8762) of Frist, McConnell, and Allard this morning and remind the phone people of the Revolutionary War Battle of Kings Mountain (none of them had ever heard of it!) and the standing order of the day:
No quarter!
Nelson of Nebraska voted to invoke cloture 18 of 20 times in 2003-4. The two he did not were Pickering and Saad, and I haven't checked to see if he voted on those cloture motions or not.
Depending on how Frist plays this, there may be quite a few DEMs who "cross over."
*55 Republicans and 44 Democrats. That's what the American people voted for in the last election. That is not 5 and that is not slim.*
I agree. Schumer should zip it and accept the facts. :)
There is nothing that says the Senate has to vote on it at all, if the 'rules' of the Senate are changed to reflect such. And ol' Chucky is trying to tell the people a 'no' vote on cloture is a vote for filibuster. Patently untrue, but 'Rats lie with the ease of an unrolled rug.
As several FReepers have noted, 51 Senators can send a letter to the President, individually or collectively, advising the majorities consent on the appointment. Nothing in the Constitution prohibits such action, and Senate rules change more often than the public knows.
The 'Rats have lost this fight. They merely lack the good sense to lay still.
He might switch parties but he knows he'd be running against a Repub with backing. It would be a fool's play. At this point in time, he'd probably be happy to be an Ambassador. It's over and he knows it...clap your hands!!
Indeed so! Lavender tie and all. ptui
Wake me when the Dems say anything relevant.
I prefer Rush's voice to chuckie's.
"You have a right to my opinion"
I thought it was orange...but Satan has those powers.
I'm absolutely certain he's reading a Hillary Document....she is confusing.
Will the four GOP turncoats get their time to speak from the Dem side, or will they NOT speak?
At first I thought it was pink... but it's probably lavender. Ptui on him in any case.
Rush almost called them SOB's as they really are LOL
