Then Mr. Frist is expected to move to shut it down through a series of parliamentary maneuvers that will end with a vote on whether a filibuster on a judicial nominee violates Senate rules."

And it is my speculation that this maneuvering will NOT involve calling for cloture, at least not by the GOP.

The show is underway. Hours of boredom for the next couple days ... but the inevitable is coming, it is coming.

I think it'd be funny to see the democrats get totally spanked over this issue.

They have the media on their side, but the bloggers are a force to notice.

The Democrats are on the wrong side of this issue. Frist would not have the Senate here unless he was quite sure the process is acceptable to a majority of the Senators. I think the people will come to agree with Frist's and the GOP's position, nominees deserve a vote - not confirmation, but a vote.

The bloggers will not play a big part in this, other than educating people who want to understand. The matter will be played out on the public stage of the Senate floor.

Reid said on the floor today, that of course JRB rec'd 83% (or whatever) of the vote, because she was running UNOPPOSED!!

He then proceeded to rip in to her, and cited the Atty General saying she was an activist judge, way outside the mainstream, blah, blah, blah,......

I had understood that the Atty Gen made those comments about Owens, not that that should stop Reid from mixing up the nominees. He was on a roll.....

If JRB were out of the mainstream it would have been easy for an opponent to unseat her. That no one was even willing to try is something in her favor. Of course, Scummy Harry won't see it that way.

That was my thought, exactly. Here in Pa. we have judges running on BOTH slates - Rep. & Dem. Go figure.

I wrote e-mails encouraging both Virginia senators (Warner and Allen) to support the "constitutional option." I heard Senator Warner was wavering. Senator Allen supports going "nuclear" and sent back a nice e-mail saying so.

I hope Virginia's senators will act in concert and not cancel out each other. If Warner doesn't support the Constitution, it's time for him to go.

Did you see the segemnt where they had that Hybrid car driving from point A to point B while they were being followed by some Evil SUVs?

I guess its for some comparison they're doing?

Anyway, it was hilarious. As they were talking to the driver by phone, live on the TV, he was saying how much gas he's saving, blah, blah, blah. The funny part was they showed him driving down the freeway and school buses were passing him! He couldn't keep up!

".. citing the Bork case, in which of course perhaps the most qualified Supreme Court nominee in decades was turned down."

And I am STILL peeved about that! That's where the engine went off the tracks.

LOL. Missed that. I typically watch the first half-hour only, then file my report. I might be masochistic enough to watch some of the show, but not self-destructive enough to watch it all ;-)
