The first election results are in...mail ballots only.
Rounding off the numbers, it come out to 51% for Villaraigosa and 49% for Hahn.
Do these numbers look better for either candidate?
Opinions anyone?
It is all absentees, so they have a pro Hahn bias. It looks like the polls might be accurate. V wins 55-45.
It's not looking very good for Hahn so far, although this is just a small fraction, and so far it's close enough.
V. 51.42 vs. 48.58 (Hahn)
When someone interviewed some people at the Hahn "rally", they didn't sound very optimistic, almost sounded like their internal polling told them they lost.
But I am still hoping.
You might have to wait about three hours for your hopes to be dashed.
8.2% reporting, question is what area.
It's close enough, so it could still change, and I hate to look forward to 8 years of Villaraigose.
They didn't issue the final bulletin in the March primary until almost 4AM.

Here's the website for election results. I would guess there will be plenty of swings as the demographically different districts report.

8.2% reporting?
Where are you getting your numbers from?
The point is that it is all absentee ballots. No voters who voted today are in the totals. In the initial mayorial election, at this point Hertzberg was leading comfortably.
Some raw totals when they come in, in about two hours, will help us forecast the V margin.
Here's the story on this monumental poop-pile waste of tax money.
NUMBER REGISTERED BALLOTS CAST PERCENT REPORTING CITY OF LOS ANGELES 1,469,296 120,776 8.22 VOTES PERCENT ANTONIO R. VILLARAIGOSA 61,435 51.42 JAMES KENNETH HAHN 58,045 48.58
Yup. Never seen it personally, but it's a statue in downtown San Jose.
IMO, it looks like dog crap and is an embarassment to San Jose. But to each, their own.
Thanks.
It's about time for another update. If Villaraigosa is still leading, I'll have a brandy, to dull the pain, ;)
and go to bed.
Having lived in Southern Kalifornia, I can't emphasize too much the HORRENDOUS corruption that has seeped up from the banana republic to the South. During the Recall and the Presidential elections, I COULD NOT get them to send me an absentee ballot. I COULD NOT get one word of information out of the Registrar's office. In short, I COULD NOT VOTE!
Mexico's absence of a sense of honor (except perhaps their ultra left-leaning worship of La Raza, that militant subversive organization that means to take California back by force) has infiltrated the cities, counties and (obviously) the state government levels as well.
There's a general air of hostility, suspicion, arrogance and even violence all over the Southern part of the state. I'd even describe it as a potential powderkeg.
Ah yes, the Plumed Serpent statue in Plaza de César Chávez, San Jose. [slap forehead]
