'"...Our nation is also indebted to U.S. Army Sergeant Joseph Darby who, despite great personal risk, stood up for the rule of law and exposed the torture and scandal in Iraq. In a time when politics and government have been marked by incivility and partisanship, these individuals have distinguished themselves by their political and moral courage and by their vision of what was right for the country...."'

Just wondering: why wasn't Linda Trip recognized for her corageous revelation of sex abuse by high level authorities in our own capital?

To whom did Darby expose the "torture and scandal, to his superiors who then went on to conduct an investigation, or to the press?

The thing about Abu Ghraib is, there was already a full inquiry and a complete report on file by the time the MSM got hold of a few pictures. Instead of turning it into a story about how military justice works, and how the US doesn't permit or condone these actions, it was turned into a "scandal."
Go figure.

The family with the pictures contacted Hackworth.
The rest is history and Hack can explain his perfidy to the devil.

If this Spec. isn't on the "fat boy" program, then his commander should take action.

You took the words right out of my mouth!
Rush just said it: allegations of rape in middle east by US soldiers = front page news. allegations of rape of a woman by a US president = barely a mention at all.

He slipped the evidence anonymously under CID's door, then they investigated it.
An Army spokesperson told the press corps that an investigation was underway back in January 2004.
Only after 60 Minutes ran an expose of some of the pictures that were released did the Abu Graibe incident become a scandal in April 2004.
As a Specialist who was outranked by ringleader SGT Graner, he took appropriate actions to disclose these reprehensible acts by a few rogue MP's.

The word I have for what this fellow did is not "courage."

And to think...if he had charged an insurgent machine gun nest, destroyed it and lost his life in the process, he wouldn't be receiving the "Profiles in Courage" award. I'm surprised his unit C.O. let him wear a uniform to this shindig. If he wants to act like a civilian, and maintain his personal appearance and fitness like a civilian, he oughta dress like one.
To: tsomer
I still haven't seen the pictures of Muslim Terrorists being held down by American troops and having their heads sawed off with a kitchen knife while our troops yelled Jesus is Great.
And pls tell me the picture of the fat hog in uniform is not the "Whistleblower".
