National PTA Rejects PFOX While Welcoming Pro-Homosexual Group

The national Parent Teachers Association (PTA), which is featuring a pro-homosexual group at its upcoming convention in Columbus, Ohio, is barring Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX) from exhibiting there.

“It’s blatant discrimination against ex-gays,” Regina Griggs, PFOX executive director, told Concerned Women for America. “They say they don’t want to take a position, but then they allow only one viewpoint – the pro-homosexual one.”

The 6-million-member PTA actually solicited Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) as an exhibitor, The Washington Times reported. Ron Schlittler, PFLAG executive director, told the Times that the group was chosen to help “end rampant anti-gay bullying” in public schools.

“That’s always the ploy,” Griggs said. “None of us wants anyone mistreated, including kids who identify as ‘gay.’ Schools need to emphasize civility toward all. But these programs start with ‘tolerance’ and quickly move into advocacy for homosexuality. They openly discriminate against people who have overcome homosexuality, as if they don’t exist.”

This will mark the second straight year that PFLAG has a booth while PFOX is shut out.

At last year’s convention in Anaheim, California, PFLAG was initially rejected until homosexual activists planned to hold a “teach-in” at a nearby hotel, according to the Times. PFLAG was invited to participate by Warlene Gary, the PTA’s chief executive officer at the time, who previously served as the National Education Association’s (NEA) human rights director and liaison to homosexual activist groups.

The NEA has aggressively endorsed homosexual activism in the schools, and when Robert Chase, former NEA president, stepped down in 2003, he was vetted as a possible successor to be president of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest homosexual pressure group. Chase, who had aggressively backed pro-homosexual resolutions during his NEA tenure, removed himself from consideration.

PFOX, which works with CWA, won a major victory in Montgomery County, Maryland, on May 5 when a federal judge issued an injunction halting a pilot sex-education program that promotes homosexuality while denigrating ex-gays. PFOX and Citizens for Responsible Curriculum had filed a lawsuit through Liberty Counsel, a Christian civil rights legal organization, alleging bias against ex-gays and religious discrimination. The curriculum also features a video with a young woman putting a condom on a cucumber.

After the judge’s decision, school officials withdrew the program until at least next December and said they would review it.

So launch a lawsuit for discrimination based on sexual orientation. It's only appropriate to use their own tactics against them.
