Weeks after Terri Schiavo's death, one protester continues to show signs of conviction.
PINELLAS PARK - The sky was still dark Monday as Lisa Wilson walked quickly up 66th Street N toward her destination.
She carried a sign with the words "Terri Schindler was murdered" and a single-minded purpose that even she struggles to explain.
"I've never gotten up this early for a job in my life, but you do strange things when you love your job," said the 48-year-old woman as she took up her post at the intersection of 66th Street N and 102nd Avenue N at 6 a.m.
Wilson is the last of the hundreds of protesters who trampled the grass outside Terri Schiavo's hospice in the days before her death March 31.
If you talk to Wilson, you find out the Topeka, Kan., woman is not so much a religious zealot like some of the other protesters but maybe a woman who has either lost or found her way, depending on your perspective.
She hadn't been to a church in 25 years until recently. She says she has had an abortion. She has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Washburn University in Topeka and a master's in food and nutrition from Kansas State University. And she maintains that she has never been to a protest in her life - until she showed up 56 days ago.
"I believe strongly in what i'm doing," Wilson said. "I'm trying to protect other people from getting euthanized. This is a wake-up call for me."
Five days a week she arrives at the intersection near Hospice House Woodside at the crack of dawn and holds up her sign hoping to reach the "movers and shakers" whom she thinks travel the roads at this time of day.

Yeah it is...
"She carried a sign with the words "Terri Schindler was murdered" and a single-minded purpose that even she struggles to explain."
Hey Lisa, get a job.
I have to admire her guts and her determination to do the right thing. I hope at least one person's heart will be changed due to her protest.
Do you say that only because you disagree with her? Some jobs aren't the 9 to 5 type.
Oh ... goody. Another success story.
"Do you say that only because you disagree with her? Some jobs aren't the 9 to 5 type."
I have little respect for protesters.
I'm sorry, but I can't feel anything but contempt for a woman who would marry a child molester.
May I ask why?
I always wondered about these kinds of people that you see protesting. I want to ask them if they have nothing more constructive to do with their day. Even in this case. Get off of the street and do constructive to support whatever your cause du jour is. Otherwise, you end up looking like you belong at the Michael Jackson trial with those losers.
A wake-up call, indeed.
I hope she gets some (or has gotten some) post-abortive counseling, as she is being convicted (by God, in case you're not following me).
He is trying to lead her, and she is trying to be obedient - it's a cool process to watch.
Maybe she foolishly thought she could change him.
Hmmm, why do you assume that someone is not a productive member of society because they set some of their time aside for protesting, (or street evangelism, for that matter)?
I spend a good chunk of my time on the sidewalks prayer-walking, and I spend at least as much time at my (earthly) paying job as you do.
Maybe, but that doesn't excuse it as far as I'm concerned. My friend's mother stayed married to my friend's father after she found out that he had molested her daughter. I feel the same disgust for this woman that I do for my friend's mother.
She'd been fired from her job as an office manager at an architectural engineering firm.
Well, that's kind of a different story. She had a responsibility for her daughter and her daughter's well-being.
That situation is surely contemptible whereas the woman above's situation was just kind of sad and futile.
Hmmm, why do you assume that someone is not a productive member of society because they set some of their time aside for protesting...
Didn't read the article, eh?
I must agree with you. I cannot support anyone who would knowingly marry a child molester or stay married to one. I do however hope she finds help, (yes, I do think the abortion is playing a role here)I hope God can bring her some peace. I hate to say too much because one never knows who God will use to change lives.
No, just scanned it - so I went back and re-read it.
So she's not working at the moment - she's not draining society though, either.
Maybe God has something He wants her to do right now.
Hey, she may very well be a nut job, but it's kind of hard to judge.
When I'm immersed in prayer in front of an abortion mill people driving by yell out "get a job", (among other things) because they just judge without having any insight into the real situation.
Hey, she may very well be a nut job, but it's kind of hard to judge.
Three husbands, two divorces, the other a suicided child molester, no job & she's blowing a $100,000 cash bonanza and considers standing on street corners as an occupation plus her son thinks she has some problems--not looking good for the 'Lisa is a well-adjusted human being' POV. But, you are right--at least she's not on welfare.
