Her tour of Australia was postponed following the announcement.

A statement from Minogue's management said the 36-year-old's diagnosis was confirmed this week during a visit to the southern Australian city of Melbourne.

"Whilst at home in Melbourne with her family this week prior to her Australian Showgirl Tour, Kylie was diagnosed with early breast cancer," the statement said.

In the statement, Minogue said: "I was so looking forward to bringing the Showgirl tour to Australian audiences, and am sorry to have to disappoint my fans. Nevertheless, hopefully all will work out fine and I'll be back with you all again soon."

The Showgirl Tour was to have included performances in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth over the next month.

There seems to be quite a bit of diagnosis lately of younger women and breast cancer. Very sad. =( We lost a lovely young mother at my son's school to this--she was 36 as well. Makes me want to hug my babies even tighter.

***

Friend of mine died from bc back in the 70's...she was only 30. Mammograms were not in vogue then. By the time she found the lump through a monthly self-exam, it was too late -- the cancer had already spread.

Thank goodness for mammograms...if you have them regularly, they could save your life.

I'm sure an explanation that you were at work, and a request for others to post pictures would have sufficed.

But nice job on the pic. That covers the articles topic pretty well.

36 is VERY young.

My wife is 38.

She has never had one, but I need to get her to the doctor for a mammogram soon.
As soon as our baby is born. :0)

I'm retired. Not my career -- hers (based on the photo...)

That covers the articles topic pretty well.

(Actually, I thought the applicable verb was "uncovers"...)

...nothing to see here, folks -- just foolin' around...

I have no idea about her or her music, but I hate cancer. I wish her a speedy recovery and God bless her.

Her idol while growing up in Australia was Olivia Newton-John who also got breast cancer in 1992 at the age of 43. Olivia beat cancer and is still going strong today at age 56. Olivia now has a cancer center named after her in Melbourne and a healing retreat up along the Gold Coast. Prayers for her in this time of difficulty.
