The New York Times announced yesterday that it would offer a new subscription-based service on its Web site, charging users an annual fee to read its Op-Ed and news columnists, as the newspaper seeks ways to capitalize on the site's popularity. Most material on the Web site, NYTimes.com, will remain free to users, The Times said, but columnists from The Times and The International Herald Tribune will be available only to users who sign up for TimesSelect, which will cost $49.95 a year. The service will also include access to The Times's online archives, as well as other features.
The service, which is scheduled to start in September, will be provided free to home-delivery subscribers of the newspaper.

No thanks... those commies can fund their own propoganda.
I'd pay $100 just to NEVER have to read any of these communists drivel ever again.
Bless 'em, you can pay $49.95 a year now to be lied to.
I wouldn't want it if they paid me.
Oooh, oooh, where do I not sign up?
Gag me with a spoon....
Let them know there is better Commentary/Opinion pieces available for free in the Pajamas Media.....!
The New York Slimes, the lovely paper that last July decided to put out a one sided article on the company Taser on a Sunday no less, a day before Taser was to report it`s earnings, which resulted in the stock diving like a brick and me losing.......well let`s just say the New York Slimes and me aren`t exactly on subscription terms right now. The New York Slimes just didn`t like the fact that law enforcement had an edge on crime, and in my opinion they timed that article to cause the maximum amount of damage not only to the company but to the stockholding public as well. That is the depths of the slime of that paper.
Ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha.
I think they made a mistake by putting 49 before the 95.
Adding insult to injury. Now they are going to have hurt feelings because no on wants to pay for drivel they can now read for free.
And if you`ll notice, TASR still 10 months later is still trying to get out from under that NY Slimes article.......

Maybe one of the red (pun intended) flags is their bottom line is hurting and trying to con $49.95 out of the 'good stupid sheep of the herd.'
